Jealousy at its worst

A moment can change drastically the relationship between two partners. Deception could be either perceived or true. But as doubt penetrates, it becomes harder to accept the wrong conclusions arrived at. Listening and analyzing explanations are more productive than the demolition of the bridge. Emotionally expressed poem.

Hi nomi, Jealousy is evil. Some people choose to be judge and jury without a hearing or an explanation. Some things are not another person's business. Unfortunately, the ability to text and send a message on demand is not always a good thing, and in the situation as described in your poem, it disallows for time to think before you speak or text.

Of note:
You can't recross the bridge you are burning.

(The above is so true, and not all things can be forgiven.)

Well-chosen photo, and well done. Margaret

Thank you. The statement about the bridge was pure inspiration. I thank God for it, as came to me from out of the blue.

I liked the slightly in-your-face poem about people seeing something and leaping to a conclusion, in this case accusing a boyfriend of cheating on them.

Thank you. No man enjoys being falsely accused and not being given the chance to explain or be listened to.

People so often jump to conclusions without knowing the whole story which leads to disaster.
Well rhymed story of jealousy at its worst.

Well done.

How did I miss this one, Nomi? I'm so sorry I'm coming in late. This is a fine, well expressed rhyming verse about jealousy including a warning not to jump to conclusions and burn that bridge. I enjoyed your imagery of the huge alligator. Jealousy, as far as I'm concerned, is a hateful emotion because it involves so many other elements of mistrust, possessiveness, aggression etc. Your last stanza urges mature reflection to learn the truth, rather than over-react impulsively. Thanks for sharing your excellent post, Nomi. Debbie

Thank you. I took pains to include the negative input received from gossipy friends. Thankfully I never had to experience this, but I know some who have.

I enjoyed reading this poem. The rhyming scheme is good. It is so true what you talk about in this poem. I am so guilty of it. I jump to conclusions before I know the truth. Well written. Great job

Whoops. How many relationships are fractured beyond repair because people "assume" the worst and there are always "friends" to back up the wrong perception!

I like your varied rhyme schemes here...and most of all I like the message.
STOP. Think of how your partner has always been and consider if "this" scene is worth exploding it.

Often it is not!

Thank you. So far you are the first reviewer who noticed the reference to so called friends whose intrusive influence may have done damage with uninvited advice.

Beware of friends who feel the need to tell us something "for our own good!"

A very good poem reminding us all of the loss you can face by jumping to conclusions rather than listening to the truth. It's always best to hear out the one you love rather than listen friends who don't know that person.

Thank you, quite often it is the unwelcome comments from so called friends that inflame emotions driving unwise decisions.

relationships can be damaging. is it better to leave than not leave because the damage has already been done. your poem was written with a fresh start from start to finish. thanks for the read.

Thank you for the review. Sometimes, many times we are our own worse enemies. That is if we do not control our emotions.

How true your words are! People these days are ready and willing to believe the worse of someone without knowing the full truth. Building bridges with honest communication instead of burning them would save a lot of misunderstandings and heart ache. But that takes wisdom and humility.
