This piece brings to light the loss of so many animals. Everyday there is an animal lost that we can never bring back again. It is a shame and we should take more care of the creatures of the Earth.

A lovely tribute to all the beautiful creatures that grace our world on the land, sky, and sea. It is certainly a "fragile artistry" and we need to care about these creatures. Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you so much, Helen, for this kind review! Hoping that your mother is well. Take care Debbie
Comment from June Sargent
The web of life on earth is fragile and, when unraveled, threatens all forms of life. Humans are part of that web. When animals disappear - ultimately we ourselves are one step closer to extinction. Thank you for the reminder.

Comment from Brenda Strauser
I like your poem. The portrait was so interesting and liked the way you placed the animals like a collage. I didn't know all those animals were close to being extinct. Your words are nice. especially, where you said, crafted in beauty. Very good job.

Debbie, the compressed 17 syllables most certainly is the unabridged fact about the localities/habitats of one-half of God's gifts to humanity. Sadly, due to the melting 'polar ice cap,' Its namesake (Polar Bear) for that region is struggling to reproduce off springs...Man hunting them for trophies is further endangering the species by great numbers daily. Thanks to your notes, we now know the extinct to what pollution and global warming is contributing to the declining population of the animal world. The picture remind those of us who care that these majestic specimen are at great risk of disappearing before future generations will able to see them. teafor2

A poignant and outstanding post Debbie for the 5-7-5 contest. Taking care of the wildlife is a responsibility human's need to pay attention to, as we are meant to be the intelligent enough to allow these creatures to share our planet. Often they become extinct due to greed and power. We should be ashamed, a fine post, love Dolly x x x

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us and highlighting the endangered animals. It's important that people are aware of this. I have known people who have actually said that it doesn't matter. I wanted to shake them, but it wouldn't do any good. You can't cure stupid. Good luck with the contest.

I find it mind numbing that while some men thoughtlessly diminish the number of valued wild life, Hollywood is busy making movies about reviving animals that would threaten the very existence of mankind. We as a species can at times, exhibit utter and complete stupidity.

Thank you so much, Nomi! I greatly appreciate your kindness and thoughts. It's interesting with Warhol, for example, that so often the message has to feed into popular culture before it makes an impact. We just don't see what we're doing in terms of destroying nature. Take care Debbie

You have posted an outstanding message with this excellent contest entry, my friend. It is always sad to learn of another animal being placed on the official list of endangered species as they are walking along the same path as the dinosaurs. We can never give too much attention to this vital issue.

Thank you for sharing this and the beautiful art of the endangered species. I knew of the elephant, black rhino, and the eagle, but not abreast of the others. I'm most concerned for the rights of the preborn child, a cause that consumes me these days as the abortion clock ticks away.
Sending you my best today as always and my very best wishes for the upcoming contest.

Thank you so much, Sal, for this kind and thoughtful review! It's amazing that the bald eagle, your US symbol of magnificence and strength, came so close to extinction. Credit to legislation and Warhol's pop culture intervention that the bird's status has recovered. Thank you also for your best wishes which I should like to return (I love bougainvilleas, they remind me of a place we used to have in France) Take care Debbie xos
