That was so lovely! I guess we all get to that stage, be it famous people, or just us normal people who all have their jobs to do. Then one day there is no job to do. Being a mum, I only wanted to do the best for them, I think I managed that, and then one day they had a wife and family of their own. That is what we all aim for, but suddenly we feel redundant. We aren't but it feels that way. Like this musician. He was up there night after night on the stage, but then his wife left him. Suddenly the glory of the stage diminished. He discovered the audience was all well and good, but they had their own places of stardom with their families. He was now left with nothing. I liked the lesson the old man taught him. I believe he was an angel sent to show him his life could still offer much. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, Jim, very well done! :)) Sandra xx

"Thank you, FS, for 500 posts!" All that mail. Don't you get tired of them?
"The Art Of Feeding Geese" That, my dear fellow, is a delicate, precise science--never an art.
"CeCe never even came to any of my concerts any more." Ah, she finally realized you were a lousy performer, eh?
"The door seemed to tell me to get out." Now, you know it's really bad when the door does this.
"family of Canadian geese." How do you know, did the geese tell you? Or were they playing ice hockey in red and white uniforms?
"When you get to know them, they'll tell you their names." Oh boy, that far gone.
"I felt he old man was intruding," Typo--change he to the.
Bah! Give me assorted chicks over geese anyday--unless geese are metaphor for babes. :-))
Congrats on your new literary milestone! Now, onward to 501...

Think you. I read this over and over and didn't catch the typo, but I'll get it now!

Very nice story for your 500th post! Congratulations. I have never fed geese although i would love to. I have fed and befriended a sandhill crane once and he continued to visit me twice daily for about a year. I named him Bob (Bob Crane). If I wasn't outside to feed him he would knock on the glass panel of my door with his beak. I only noticed one small typo.

I don't know why. I felt he old man was intruding (add a t to THE)

Thank you! I just corrected that stupid typo that kept escaping me. By the way, Bob Crane got his first break at my CT. hometown radio station, WICC. There are rumors he left a notebook full of jokes.

That's odd. He told me he'd never been out of Florida.

His very early break was at WICC in Bridgeport, CT. WICC also had a fledgling UHF station that had zero audience. Once, they said if anyone was watching, they'd give them a hundred dollar. No one responded.

fledgling? as in a baby crane? lol

I don't remember if it was Bob Crane or another announcer, but they also hid $100 bills around the city and then gave the audience clues as to where to find it. I remember going as a kid, looking around with my mom. Never found it!
