Beautiful. My dark days are lightened by the inspiring comment of angel who appear to me as rays of light in this darkened world. I cannot thank you enough, but I will certainly try.

You are most welcome, and I meant every word. Please forgive the mistakes. My grade school teachers would be rapping my knuckles with a ruler for making this many mistakes. LOL.

This four line poem points out several things but is aimed at comforting a friend. The mourning process seems to make time slow down, as in 'As clocks are stopped' along with the muting of sensory pleasure (the sound of birds is muffled) and making everything seem darker than usual (day is night). I like this line:
and in the mourning God will shine His light.
It seems like 'mourning' has the sound-alike 'morning' in the meaning there.

This is beautiful. It's difficult to comment on something so personal, and clearly written from the heart, but to me the bit about stopping clocks felt a bit 'borrowed'. It's used in the opening line in a famous poem by WH Auden (Funeral Blues) and that immediately came into my mind and took away some of the impact of your poem. On the plus side, to come up with the same image as such a famous poet shows you have a real flair, and the rest of the poem clearly showed that. Just lovely.

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review! Yes, it was borrowed but a deliberate and transparent nod to Funeral Blues (Auden's verse is so widely known albeit he says: Stop all the clocks and I say As all clocks are stopped...) But I appreciate your comments and support, thank you so much, Sue. Take care Debbie

This is a very touching poem on loss and grieving. I appreciate the use of "mourning" in the last line. Many people quote, "Sorrow last for the night, but joy comes with the morning," but you draw attention here to God shining line while still in the mourning. I think that's profound.

Your soothing solace will remain with Nomi long after the tumult of the affairs that sweep us up when a loved one passes. Y'vonne and he shared fifty some years! What joy there is in that!

Beautiful offering, Debbie.
