Oh yes, there are times in our lives that we wish had never been, I've never quite ruined the life of a sweet young thing, and I've been with my wife for fifty four years, and somehow God looked after me all those despite my ugly young life, beautifully written Jim, there's truth in fiction, great job, blessings Roy
Typo : not where you(r) father can see us.

When not overtly thanking the Lord, I like to write about the human condition. I strive not to portray overt sex or vulgarity while doing so.

First of all, congratulations on your 750th post Jim, your pen has been busy. I doubt that one drink would have tempted this girl to become an alcoholic and most people dislike the taste of alcohol at first. I enjoyed your historic story, it had a real authentic American vibe, much enjoyed, love Dolly x x x

Oh man! What a terrible ending. Surely Chrissie wasn't ruint completely. Not by one night of drinking?
Sounds like that beauty ;'was' attainable. All he had to do was get a job.
Best wishes.

I spent all of the seventies drinking while accomplishing honors at college. It only took one drink to start it. I'm thankful The Lord had pity on me.

Jim,
This passionate story set in old comedians' time is an excellent read. I like the dreary ambiance you paint in the beginning of it.
Suggestions: space between husbands and showing off," the next night don't start off too good" should be 'well.'
Your work is really a true gem, a toast to that bygone era.
Best wishes,
Cindy

I am so thankful for those words. I try to use prose to highlight the human situation.

Congratulations on your 750-milestone post. This is a great post to receive that on. After reading, I had to pause and wonder how many people could tell this story. A few things might change but the basic story would remain the same. Thank you for sharing.

The next night didn't start off too good. (The following night)

When we got some distance away, I yelled to her.

"What's your name?" (comma after 'her' and move the next line closer to 'her')

Okay...okay...okay. I don't normally read and review lengthy stuff because I can't focus long enough to get to the end. I would say it's because of you, my friend, that I read your story, but I would be lying. The title sucked me in. When I read it, I said there's a song in here somewhere. But you made me read the whole thing to get to it. Your mind has a reservoir of words and experiences that leave me in awe! Compared to you, I'm a mere dwarf in the grand world of writing. Keep writing, my man! Your work is amazing, You have so much to offer, and I have so much to learn. John

Strange, but I stand in awe of your writing! When I am not directly mentioning the Lord, I write stories mainly that highlight the human condition.
