A beautiful tribute for a loved one. The wind chimes are used by many races, prayers every time they give sound to the wind. I enjoyed your poem because it has told a story of death and rejuvenation. Thanks for sharing, I wish every person would give thought to remembering a soul this way. Well done poet.

Jimi,

This is an excellent eulogy and fine words to accompany the memorial gift of a wind chime. I think this, instead of flowers, was a proper gift, since it will last for years. He was too young to die, a lot younger than I am. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Dave

Hi Dave, thank you once again ever so much. Yes, he was too young and he quite possibly could have lived longer if he had not ignored his pain from five years ago. He constantly complained his back hurt and could not figure out why. He woke up one morning with so much pain in his back he could hardly move and his left arm was extremely swollen. A tragedy for sure.. again thank you so very much... jimi

Welcome back, and thank you for sharing your poignant tribute and the additional context in your notes. I admired your rhymed quatrains and prayer-like quality of your verse. I particularly liked your "mortal token" metaphor, along with your use of "bell" and "fingers" as verbs. Please accept my condolences for your family's loss. -Joan

This is a beautiful piece of work. Your wording flowed with authority and purpose, and your rhyming scheme never seemed stilted or forced to me at all. Well done.

My condolences for your recent loss.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. More especially, perhaps, that of your youngest son. The poem was as superb as any Savell, a superb piece of work, work we have come to expect.
"As each zephyr fingers with an angels score". What a lovely symphony of words.
Well done, and may the Lord give strength to your family.

Cancer, what a horrible disease. I remember Nixon saying lets find a cure before 2000. Well, it hasn't happened. Just yesterday I had surgery on my face because of skin cancer, which is nothing compared to what you're writing about. Your rhyming, your chose of words are so elegantly written and heartfelt. Thanks for sharing. Les

Glasstruth, thank you ever so much for stopping by. I an sorry to hear of your recent bout with cancer. I do hope you are doing well. You are right, Nixon did declare the war on cancer, 1969. At that time, one in every five people were affected by this dreaded disease. It did not mean they had it, it meant they knew someone who did. Today, despite all the research, despite all the new designer targeted drugs, despite modern technology, we are going backwards. Now, one in every three people are affected by cancer and it does not mean you know some one, it simply means you have it. Scary. We do know differnt that we did 43 years ago. We approach this disease the same, we cut, we burn, we poison, only with more sophisticated ammo. Still, the battle is continuous, but we as a soxciety fail to step back and look through a different lense. We are an illsociety with a rescue mentality and the medical and pharmaceutical industry feeds off of our need. ok, I have said enough, but thank you so very much. jls

Just imagine if we were to put the same money into this as we do for the military, where would we be now?
reply by the author on 08-Sep-2012
I hear you, however, there is soooo much money given for research, but the irony is, very little money if ast all is given toward educating people in the need for lifestyle changes and holding the food industry and pharmaceutical industry accountable for their part is propegating and propitiating disease. Research on our part will disinterr some very blaring truths about these two bed partners. If all were healthy, the pharmaceutical industry and medical industry complex would implode. There is not enough castastrophic events free of disease that keep them afloat. The big conglomerates of the food industry would not exist and their wealth would go down the drain. Cheap engineered food down our gullets, more profit for them and more profit for the pharmaceutical industry.. for now we have high blood pressure, obesity, diabesity, diabetes, cancer, ms,severe depression, arthritis, heart disease, kidney disease, the list is endless. Now, just where would our good doctors be without our money in sick care? You tell me..

You make an excellent point. The food industry and pharmaceutical companies are laughing all the way to the bank. Les
