It is better have loved and lost but the loss can be crushing sometimes. Some people hold on to the fragments of a relationship rather than admitting that it is all over. It is so hard to move on.

A very moving piece with a theme that is all too familiar. I've not read the preceding chapters, but will do so after finding this. Love the last two lines.

Good work!

getting over a relationship is always more difficult for the other partner. you may well close your heart from the forthcoming hurt and leave.
thank you for sharing this gem!

As I was reading your most wonderful poem, my heart was actually sinking.
How many games do we play when love is at stake?

Acknowledging courage to see an end of a relationship is such a substantial step.

Pretending for the benefit of others, such a mistake.

This is a great work with much feeling.

I really the 'ready, get set, go.' theme of this poem. Actually, that is how I hear it, but I may be wrong. I also liked the line, In courage I was the first to face the truth. So many of us 'deny' for a long time before we face the truth that a relationship has expired. I think this poem was well crafted.

This is very well expressed, and you make your point very well. You certainly show the feelings that one who has been hurt in a romantic relationship. The pain comes through, but it is the moment of truth. The time has come to move on. It takes courage to deal with the recognition that it's over. judi

A scenario so frequent for many yet many are not brave enough to face the truth.
Sometimes the truth may hurt in the beginning but it soon gives way to commonsense and thereby a bridge to rebuild.
Good write.
Best wishes,

Love lost - - is there yet another emotion that reviles this haunting, stirring, tribal urge. You have captured the essence of this eternal struggle with this compelling piece. Well done.

Till the last amen
