This is really your writing forte. Your ideas come across loud and clear and you present them in a measured tone. I read so many newspaper articles and letters that resort to calling their opponents names and questioning their intelligence. Your words are measured. I read that "Time" mag was actually considering naming the protestors persons of the year. These recent protests have been scary because of the lawlessness on the part of some and because of the mindset they reflect--that if we don't get out way, we'll resort to violence. I especially like your comment about people actually knowing what they're protesting about before they go out there. Some of those organizing the protests are pretty shady characters who don't have the country's best interests at heart. Great idea for an end-of-year article. Great concluding paragraph. judi

Lancellot, you hit another homerun. Your writing is always excellent and topics superb. Any chance you might put your essays in a booklet? I, for one, would buy several to send to family and friends. I wish they could be a mandatory teaching tool in political science and diversity classes in schools and universities.

BRAVO! I agree totally with what you have said here, and said very well. The mainstream media has an agenda. They are no longer a free press that gets the truth out to citizens. They spread leftist propaganda and pretty much say what they are told to say or what they prefer personally. Any conservative journalist working for the MSM usually doesn't last long if he/she won't play along "for the good of the country" the left is so effectlvely destroying day by day.

Love your common sense, but it also gets my blood boiling that politicians like Pelosi and Reid get away with outlandish statements and lies and the MSM promote breaking the law. What are some of those neighborhoods going to do when police won't go when called for fear of their lives or being called a racist pig. Truly this is madness. By the way, you are one of my characters in my fanStory movie parody....the voice of rationality.

Hi, Lance,

Indeed, the media gives a slanted version every time, as well as picking and choosing what is more newsworthy to garner them more exposure, and less about the 'real' issue.

Too bad there aren't more willing to get along and work for a solution for the great good, and check egos, greed, and the need for power at the door.

*Happy New Year!!*

Cheers & Blessings

Hi!

Although I do not fully agree with all your perceptions regarding protests, you state your stance clearly and offer your true and honest opinions. When i review writing of a political or religious nature, I try to ignore the message, per se, and review the the diligence with with it was written. Everyone has a point of view and is entitled to it.

I am a disabled Vietnam vet. I often heard fellow soldiers say things to the effect of "You know I'm know fighting for the rights of those wealthy, conservative bastards", or "My fight isn't for those damned commie, liberal nuts." My answer was always "When you fight for and/or defend the American way, you are fighting for everyone's rights... both those with whom you and those with whom you disagree. I git my butt shot up pretty good defending the right of all Americans to have their say, not just those with whom I agree.

Please know I am not at all suggesting you are trying to impose against the rights of those with whom you disagree. i did not take that from your writing. i was simply stating m,y thoughts about a relevant issue.

You state your case well and do so with intelligence. The fact we might disagree on principal and politics in no way diminishes your skills and abilities with the pen.

It's always good to hear an intelligent voice from the other side.

Wishing you well in the New Year. Best to you ...

Alan

Well written with much conviction. I am no a proponent of violence but I think the people must have been enraged. Black or white young boys are losing their lives innocently and there is apparently no justice.
An enjoyable read

Thank you. I don't know about 'innocently' most of them had guns.
reply by emrpoems on 28-Dec-2014
The last three victims who were killed by the policemen did not have guns.

Do you mean: Crawford, Rice, Antonio Martin, Carlton Smith,or V. Myers. Who are you referring to?

When you state things like, they were committing crimes, you seem to imply that shooting at someone committing any sort of crime is justified. Selling loose cigarettes? Really?
To be honest, most of the protest - add comma
Are the rights of the protesters greater than the public - this implies the protesters and the public are separate and opposing entities
I honestly don't think any of the violent protesters were depicted as peaceful angels. They did show footage, after all, that most clearly showed when people were not acting like peaceful angels
Surprise, the gang rape - typo in surprise
Interesting use of illustrative examples
You state your opinion with conviction

Actually, Garner who was selling cigarettes and resisting arrest wasn't shot ( I agree the force used against him was too much). All those others who were shot had guns (Smith, Myers, A. Martin, and Rice). Brown, committed a robbery and attacked a cop before he was shot.

Thank you, Brooke. You raise interesting questions.

When protesters illegally block traffic and prevent drivers from getting to work, home, or the hospital (a lady in California had to give birth in her car because BLM protesters block the highway)then yes, they are separate and opposing. The drivers called police and cheered when the police moved them.

reply by adewpearl on 28-Dec-2014
they are separate from those wanting to drive through the area, but they are still part of the public, just a part of the public with a different agenda - right or wrong, nobody has taken away their membership in "public"

I think the article well written and timely. I think you bring up and draw attention to the issues of late. As I have said, I live in the D.C area and the shooting going on in S.E. D,C. are a daily occurrence.
In terms of writing good presentation, like your style...very logical presentation.

Worth the read.
