Great poem. Very well written. I love how you rhyme every other line. It's different. One thing. What does the word oubliette mean? Good job.

An oobliette is kind of an old Knights in armour word. It's an old dungeon deep underground basically. Just a really dark and creepy underground dungeon for the most part. Cool word, yes?

Hi Mikey,

I only use classic so the presentation on this one looked great! lol - no idea what it looks like on the 'modern' site.

The third stanza, first line I think has an extra 'I' in it that should not be there, thus throwing off the rhythm. I think this is just a typo though.

Oubliette is a great, and underused word. Unrequited love is not necessarily a bad thing if the love is given freely with no expectation of return. (Kind of like reviewing / fanning). :)

All the best
G

Good catch, I missed that. Yep, a typo, but, you're right, it ruins it.
Love that word, too. Yes, just like reviewing for damn sure!!!! HAHAHA! mikey

A fine sonnet by a right old doubting Thomas. Go on treating her like that and you could have a self fulfilling prophecy here.

One point in all seriousness though, an oubliette was a deep dark dungeon where you would lie forgotten (Fr. Oublier to forget). It is something you would be "in" rather than "on". That makes it sound more like the john than the dun-geon.

I'll be damned. My former girlfriend, a genius, told me an oobliette was a cliff on a mountain side with no egress or exit. I never checked it and I've used it for years. Ha! I was blinded by double D's. Geez, that's one of my favorite words too. I'll have to fix that. Yeah, in will work. What a world. I'm calling her right now. It's five in the morning here. She'll be thrilled. :)) mikey

    I don't believe a word of it.
