This is a very lovely 5-7-5 you have written, I especially love the middle line. We shield ourselves but still yearn to be touched and loved. Beautifully written, well done!

Actually quite cryptic in its interpretation or am I looking too deeply?
"Beneath bronze armour" is the facade of the orchid I take it?
but behind that armour is the sweet smell of the orchid?
am I close or am I missing the whole point?

If you check the picture, is a woman warrior who stopped to smell an orchid. Beneath an armor people feel protected but they leave out love and tenderness. We all yearn for human touch, affection, love, kindness, etc... Even warriors in battle.
