This meets the contest requirements splendidly as you deliver a technically sound Ottava Rima Poem with correct line and syllable count throughout. I enjoyed the touch of old world charm you brought to he piece as it suits the writing style beautifully. Good luck in the voting and thank you very much for sharing it.

I am humbled by your gracious review and comments.

Nothing seems to be said in the instructions about metre, only that lines should be of either ten or eleven syllables in length. As a result this is compliant though, speaking personally, I would prefer to see the 'a' and 'c' lines as iambic pentameters and the 'b' lines as iambic until a feminine ending provides that eleventh syllable. That technique provides a more freely-flowing rhythm.

If I understood all your feedback, I attempted to make some corrections. I will admit, I am not a professional writer; I recognize that I may not present my work in a manner that is acceptable in all circles. I can never express my appreciation enough for your honest insight.
