True, my younger sister was the difficult one. We called her the wildcat and the sister from hell. But once she got married, she changed into this loving caring person. We thought aliens had sucked out her brain and replaced it. =] I have a story on here about her. Family isn't always fun to be around. Well done. Rox

Thank you for your review and comments. It is appreciated. I am waiting for the aliens to change my sister's brains.
Keep well.

My favorite part was, "I love you sister, but you are not my friend.
To my older sister, you often ran over my thoughts.
You often dismiss my ideas.
You cut me deeply by destroying a belief.", because of your honesty and I pray this helped heal those old wounds when you wrote it!
The Lord led me to this verse after I read this,
Isaiah 66:13 New International Version (NIV)
13 As a mother comforts her child,
so will I comfort you;
and you will be comforted over Jerusalem."

I had two sisters one is now deceased. The three of us were half siblings. The girls usually took sides against me, at least that is what I believed. Despite that, they taught me just about everything of value that I knew coming up, so much so that when I entered school I was very advanced. The sister closest to me in age was very domineering and we were often at odds with each other. When we became adults this sister did a series of things that were so loving I could not believe it, She would not accept any thing in the way of payment for her kind and loving acts. I was motivated to publish my first book as my way of giving her something that she would not reject. Sadly she passed away just weeks before the book was published. Needless to say I was heartbroken, both for her loss and for the missed opportunity to show how much I appreciated her. My oldest sister and I are now closer than we have ever been, speaking often, she is in Michigan and I am in California. All these things came rushing in on me after I read your poem about relationships between siblings.

Oh, I know this one lol. As sisters we do have different experiences even in the family. Birth order affects our perspective and whether they mean tot or not, our parents do treat us differently. My sister and I were in our sixties before we began to understand and really appreciate each other ;) Well done.

Your poem vividly conveys a powerful message about siblings. Having love for one another does not blind them to faults--and does not mean they will be friends.

You're right about this in many cases and I really like the message conveyed in this. I think that in many families their is one like this, sometimes two. Thanks for sharing this well written work. Well done!

This is a very well written free verse poem you have penned. You used very good descriptive words and I could so relate to your words. I loved my sister dearly and she loved me too, but we were so different. I enjoyed reading and reviewing. My husband and I have a lot of cats too! I can relate to that too! love, teri

I think your poem expresses a common reality that is not glamorized in Hallmark cards and coffee mugs and sentimental pins. There are some siblings who are "not friends."
