A very interesting story. I didn't knew such bees existed. I only knew of the normal variety. Very well described. All the best to you in the contest.
With regards

Thank you. They were mean little buggers, but we survived. Hugs.

I am so glad to hear that you were able to defeat the little buggers. I was so severely stung by bees as a child that I had to carry one of those pens around with me for years for fear of bee stings. I no longer am allergic to them but for years I worried about them.

Thank you. Bees can be nasty and these were exceptionally so. Hugs

Your bees sound like hornets. This is well-written and laid out to elicit a smile even if they were little bloodsuckers. Your dad was the hero and hopefully let his bee supplier know about the bad habits of those bees.

Thank you. They were a new species of honey bee that my dad decided to try. I don't know when they had time to make honey because they seemed to prefer warm-blooded prey. Lol. Hugs

This a well written and wildly descriptive account of my worst nightmare. It was almost "too" explicit
(smile).
I am petrified by any bee you can name. Chills run down my spine even imaging that you were stung under the eye. I'm going to need to sit and breathe after reading this one.

Thank you. I wasn't too explicit. Actually the bees were worse than I describe them here. It really wasn't safe to venture outside. Those things were plain vicious. Hugs.

Well, this didn't sound like a great year for the bee population on your farm. I'm not a big fan of bees to start. This is a great story and very well written. I'm happy it all worked out for all of you including poor Rover.

Thank you. I remember those terrible bees. I wasn't exaggerating when I said they almost took over the farm. We were afraid to move. Hugs.

I remember as a young girl I stepped on a hive hidden in the ground and they swarmed after me, stinging me over and over. My father took me to the river and slapped mounds of mud all over my back. Not to cleanly but the stings stopped. My heart and soul shivered as I read your story.

Hugs and love, my friend.
Always, Carol

Thank you. The same thing happened to me when we were picking blackberries one day. I had long pants on and they went up my pant leg. My older sister helped me strip my pants off. It was an underground nest like you stepped on. The bees my dad bought were supposed to be tame honey bees. Those things were genuine killers. Hugs

How unfortunate that these particular bees were so dangerous and frightening. Bees are good for what they produce, but not if they produce long-lasting swellings and terror for family members and workers.
Your well-written story captures the drama well and is informative.
My only query is using the word 'suckers' (as in 'those little suckers were out for blood'). I know it is an informal turn of phrase but it immediately made me think of leeches or mosquitoes.

Thank you. It was just a figure of speech. I could have said those litttle bastards but we were not allowed to cuss in those day. I only meant the bees were out to get us at any cost and they were. I never saw honey bees like those and hope I never do again. Hugs.

Wow! This does sound like a very bad breed of bees. I was terrified of bees, wasps, and hornets when I was a kid because I'd been badly stung. Once my mother was trimming a hedge and cut into a wasp nest. Her head was covered with sting sand he face swelled so bad her lips turned inside out. You told the story well and I enjoyed reading it although it made me cringe. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you. It sounds like your mother really got it bad. There are some people who are alergic to bees and one sting can kill them. Hugs

This is the kind of story that nightmares are made of, since I've had my share of bee stings. My worst was when a yellow jacket flew into my car as soon as I opened the door to get in. I did not see where it went, so I got in...and sat on it. OUCH! Even though your story had some humorous parts, like the reactions of the dog and chickens, I could easily visualize the horrors of the bees. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you. I was serious when I said they almost shut the farm down. I have never seen bees that mean. They hunted us down just to sting us. Hugs.

Good story! I am buying bees this spring and read up on the Black German Bees and was warned not to consider them because they are so aggressive, your story just reinforced that warning!
Am looking at some cross-breeds with a Russian queen, we have just a short growing season and will have to feed the bees through the winter.
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you. I was wondering if the German bees were still around. I was going to look it up tonight but you answered my question. Thanks. Hugs.
