Well, I'd like to say I'm too young and wasn't alive for Schultz's line. But I'd might as well fest up and say I remember it well. And like your dad, I found it funny even then. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ric, I thank you very much. This was a fun one to write and bring back two years later. I appreciate all your kind words for this oldie to honor dads on Father's Day. Thanks again, my dear friend. Love, Debi

Perfect! I remember that show; for some reason, it just made you laugh. I wish it were that easy to fix things with "I know nothing at all." Though when I get a blank stare from my son, he's probably saying..."I know nothing at all!"

I expect you know Cats in the Cradle! This is funny and I can see why your dad loved it. Maybe because it reminds me thematically of that song I think it would set to music well. It would also make a grand comic reciter. It's a pity no one seems to do that anymore.

I liked your rhyming scheme that you used in your poem. Even though in your authors notes you say none of this is true it still has a ring of truth to it. Very nice job.

I used to love that show. I never understood why people were so upset with the Germans. They looked like fun. Lol. I wasn't privy to actual history. But Schultz was a real gem. I say that at work sometimes . This was fun. Kids learn from the best. Gretchen

I kept on sitting with my dad to watch this tv show
Schultz never got in trouble for the things he didn't know
He had to be a genius, yet he didn't look too bright
He has to have a secret, cause he's doing something right
So when I got in trouble next, Id hold my head up tall
And I'd say,
"I know Nothing, I know Nothing at all!"
Love this

This was great, Debi. I'm so glad you revived it because I missed the original posting. Very humorous, and you provided perfect examples of Schultz's famous saying.
I used to enjoy that show too once upon a time, and Schultz was probably my favorite character. This was such a fun poem. - Jim

This is precious nand reminded me when there really was something good on TV and the whole family could watch it together. We even watched the evening news together for the Vietnam War updates. If it got to be too much, Mama would switch it off and serve pie or ice cream to divert our attention.
Comedy was grand in those days and Hogan's Heroes was one of the many. I was a fan of Batman, Gomer Pyle and Green Acres. Everyone loved Lucy, Carol Burnett, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show was just the best for me. Sometimes I rewatch those when I need a good laugh. Of course The Ed Sullivan Show, American Bandstand, and The Wonderful World of Disney are vivid in my memory. Where the heck has good TV gone? Indictive of our times, I think.
A virtual six for this darling post. Love it!
Sending along my very best to you and yours as always, and love and blessings across the miles.

Sins whether big or small, reappear in our children who claim to have done nothing wrong, nothing wrong at all. They are sponges who pick up on things we really wish they would not. Yet those are the very things they get from us as a divine punishment for our own misdeeds. I love it. Shultz was one of my all time favorite characters.
