powerful and moving poem about losing one's mother due to cancer. I can relate I lost my mother due to Alzheimers. It was painful way to go to see her lose her mind over time. Never easy to deal with.

Always remember that this life is merely a preparation for the next, this world is perishing, and is showing all the signs of that fact, it's a hard thing to grasp and a biller pill to swallow, and it is what it is, well done, blessings Roy

My condolences for the loss of your mother. She was your best friend as well and you miss her terribly. I understand very well having lost my mother to cancer. She was 93 and even though she lived a long and full life I miss her every day of the week.
Thanks for letting me share and for being there when I needed to share my emotions.
Jesse

I am so sorry for your terrible loss. It's eighteen years since I lost my own Mum and Christmas was one of the hardest times of the year to deal with in the years following her death. That empty chair at a festive table carries with it a profound silence and heaviness. I've since lost my Dad as well. I hope that you will have others by your side to comfort and support you as this time approaches.

This heartfelt poem deeply resonates with my spirit. You have expressed the true feelings of grief. I lost my mother when she was age 73. However, I was only age 38 and Mom was my best friend.

You have written a poem of grief that speaks to anyone who has lost a loved one. As the pain subsides in time, pleasant memories prevail. Best wishes in the contest.

Hi Ramona,
I understand that the pain never leaves, but, it generally fades in time so you don't need to shed tears anymore. My mom also died and 73. She died of cancer as did my father who was only 50 when he died. If the pain still consumes you, you might want to see a grief counselor. I did and it helped immensely.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a good weekend.
Joan

Those we hold closest in our hearts are missed terribly when they no longer are with us. We do not always understand the reasons why life turns out as it does, and we have no control over it. What we can do is write meaningful poems like this and share them with people who also feel the same way about someone who left much too early. Thank you for sharing this. X X Lily

This a wonderfully written poem about your mother. I hope it does well in the contest. My wife died five years ago this month. I also wrote a poem about her death. A couple of years ago, I wanted to enter it into a contest so some other people might read it.

That was how I found FanStory. The poem was also entered into the No Rules Contest simply because I knew nothing about poetry. I was surprised when it came in second. Best of luck with your entry. Terry.

This is a lovely poem that you have written. Yes, it seems that so many people die so young and we miss them very greatly. We do not understand why they were taken before their time. Have a good day and God bless you. Patricia.
