It's good to see you posting again. As always your poetry is top-notch and delivers the best of what FS has to offer. Your notes are extensive and I was astonished to read of the quake in New Jersey, did you feel it?
This speaks of the pine hills and their diverse abundance of species of animals and plants.
Thanks for addressing the need to preserve our nation's waterways.
Jesse

Hello Jesse. Thank you for the marvelous review and rating for my poem, Apple Pie Hill. I?m glad you enjoyed the sensory imagery and the rhymes. I've hikes and canoed these trails and rivers for many decades, it is a unique area many are aware of.
Yes, we did feel the quake, though it was short and fortunately did no damage. We had one some years ago that lasted a little longer, but quakes are rare here. There are fault lines all around the country, this one was centered about a hundred mile northwest.
I appreciated the encouraging comments and six stars very much.
    Best wishes, my friend.

    Hello Robert.
Hiking and canoeing the Apple Pie Hill sounds like wonderful fun and excitement.
I still remember the big quake two years ago on December 21st. It traumatized both me and my cat Sunny. Since then, I have kept lanterns nearby, and flashlights, so I can see, when, and if, the power goes out.
    Have a lovely upcoming week.
    Your friend,
    Jesse

Good morning, Robert!
Perfection in form, images, tone, and message.
How your poetic offering resonates deeply with me.
Sounds like a trek to my beloved "Miller's Pond."
We all need an "Apple Pie Hill" in our lives... now more than ever...

Thank you for sharing!

-Very nice images and presentation, Robert.
-Your notes are very much appreciated, and I learned a lot.
-You do a great job sharing the diversity in this special place.
-Many good images and rhyme create a smooth flow
and tell a good story.
-Your opening paragraph invites us to go on this journey with you.
-I think many pies have been made from the berries.
-I like this image:
"You'll get the odd feeling that you're not alone;
The wind in the bush has a whispery tone."
-You create a peaceful mood with the last two verses
and make us wish that we were going on this journey, too.
-An excellent poem; good luck in the contest.

Wow - a poem lauding Nature and her many wonders in this special place- while engaging many of the senses - it's a veritable gem - and the use of language and imagery is a poetic treat.

Stunning poem, Robert, and the vivid imagery in your words make me wish I could go there. I'm glad it is now protected, it would be a shame to lose all that beauty. The picture is lovely, and I could just see the deer you mentioned in the shrub. Every stanza you've written here gives us a fabulous insight to another incredible scene, the rivers, the faunae of this particular area, it all sound fabulous. I really enjoyed every word of your poem, and if it was possible, I'd give you another six for the informative author's notes. Well done, my friend. Warmest hugs, Sandra xxx

I loved this one... so many reasons to go to Apple Pie Hill. My "local" is Dooleys Hill which also abounds in marvels. The length of this poem allows you to pile wonder upon wonder. My favourite stanza is number 6. That's when I really sat up...and the rest of the poem stands up to it.
Just one thing... red-pedaled Goat's Rue and ... should this be "petalled (or petaled")? Or are you using a term I just don't know?

Thanks for noting the typo on "red-pedaled". For some reason Word doesn't like the correct spelling. The "d" should be a "t".
I appreciated the encouraging comments and six stars very much.
