Your poem tells a story about a guy struggling with messed-up history books and no help. The poem paints a picture of how tough it can be for some kids to get a decent education. It's like a wake-up call about the problems many people face in schools. The poem hits hard, at. A real eye-opener to the challenges some kids deal with every day.

My great-granddaughters are bi-racial, and my granddaughter had to put them in private schooling because, in public school, they were failing. It was the strangest thing, but they made the honor roll when she paid for their education. It's sad that we are supposed to have such a great country, and we can't even give our kids a fair shake.

No sixes left I'm afraid, but you address a rampant problem throughout the country. Many schools do not have enough books for each student, the ones they have may be tattered, torn, and defaced. The poorest communities have the least amount of money to mitigate the problem. It is the students who suffer. Every child deserves the best materials so that they can excel. It feels like we're heading in the wrong direction.

Pam,
This is an excellent, thought-provoking poem. You're right, many minorities are still at a disadvantage concerning public education, and even in Universities.
Great poem, Pan. I think it's very well-written.

Pam, this is a very relevant topic in our nation's educational system. One of the main problem that affected student's performance was their parent's economic standing. Add to this, the many books that are made illegal nowadays and the poor kids do not have a chance to learn their history. Well written.
