Awe, Carol, would you believe concert tickets that cost a grand. I have seen BJ in concert four times and John says he has too, but they were never that height.

A great poem as always although I was surprised by the line 'the best five grandkids to pick on'. In the UK to pick on someone is to give them a hard time. I guess it means something different in the US. But the poem really gives a really clear impression of John as a person. He sounds like a lot of fun.

Hi Sue, yes, because of how I wrote his poem, it is suppose to show he is a light hearted fun loving guy to hang out with. So here to say that guy would love the best kids to pick on means what almost every good grandpa does. That means to give them a hard time is like a fun loving teasing them. My husband does it to our grandkids all the time. They would wonder if he wasn't teasing them about something. But it always does it in love and here I think everyone understands that.

you are forced to gasp and say no!
The price is too steep so we can't go.
It has been often stated that it is not the gift, but the thought that truly counts. Unfortunately that does nothing to change the reality of the steep cost of the gifts that you would most like to give.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree:-) Did John tell you that one of his sons is a chef? He actually worked at a high-end hotel here in St. Augustine before taking a position, I think, in Jacksonville. I never got to eat at his restaurant here, and I regret that.
John is one of my faves here - he's so nice to talk to, and he's always a gentleman.
The only problem with John is that Yankee thing; Red Sox rule, Yankees drool!
