Your mother was left with a huge responsibility...work full time and care for three children. Her checks were probably written for necessities like food and rent, rather than for frivolous things. This is an engaging story, and I understand why it stands out, even to this day.

Any story that can give me chills is worth 6 stars. Wonderfully written. Your emotions came through your words with an impact. The anger, the guilt, the anguish! And then the thrill at the end. Seeing your mother. Beautiful.

Oh, Harry, how sad and dreadful for you and your family. Your mother tried her best, and that included doing something that got her in trouble. She didn't do it because she wanted something for herself. She did it for her children because she couldn't see any other way. Heartbreaking!
