What a lovely way to write about we folks who are now in the twilight of our years. Are we overlooked, forgotten? We pass onto the new generation that which was passed onto us. I particularly like the last line - those who have traveled for a time with us.

This is a marvelous work.

Hi Gary,
welcome back - have you been away on work?
What a good poem to return with.
A great way of exploring some of the issues involved with getting older.
The last line is lovely and so optimistic.
Your writing style in this poem makes it quite thought-provoking.
Well done - Cally :)

I loved this poem. It was well written and showed a lot of depth in its emotions and focus on the time we spend traveling through these roads of life. In that way, to me, the poem was very reflective, and invites the reader to go inside and think about how we spend our time. The poem also had great fluidity and moved along smoothly. My favorite part was:

"But determined,we each have our travels through the vistas of life, and, if our paths should perchance meet, well, perhaps we may travel together for a time..."

This seems like a prose poem. It has some end rhymed lines. It tells a good story of how people need to work to change the world for the better for theirs and the next generation.

Keep writing

This is a very well written story poem with great imagery and flow. We are all just passing through and and only the days to come will tell of our contribution.

The forgotten and aged will remain that way probably. It's the young who carry on and hopefully they won't leave the old behind. Your message is one to think about. Time never waits for anyone. Great poem! V.A.

Good to see you back and writing again... hope all is well.

Loved the sentiment in this. As I read it, I thought of Egypt and all that has happened in Tunisia and Egypt, now rippling through Jordan and Yemen.

Who will surrender to desires from governing powers for our forgotten and aged.
Can we now withdraw leaving you to explore the foreign but new roads of life,
How will we stand, lead us by hand as the days grow dimmer and cold.
This generation is yours, the past we endured to bring you up to this day.

This is a very interesting poem, with a real meaning of
Advancement of age and feeling forgotten. Life has passed for the elderly and they are reflecting on memories as the new generation takes over. Well written, flows well and has a definite message. Great work! Debbie
