This is a very powerful poem. The line, "...if they moved at all..." is interesting with its seeming reticence, and the final lines, "a woman screamed", "and the world began to bleed" jump out with a bold intensity. Thank you for posting this.

This sounds like the emotions I read about in books and see in movies. It was a sad and confusing time. I don't remember if my parents acted differently becuase I was only three at the time.
This is well done with strong imagery and metaphors.

"And the world began to bleed" completely true and it wouldn't have finished there! I was in USA in those days and I felt all what you have perfectly written throughout your free journalistic versification. "The world had been frozen in time they were waiting for news" perfectly expressed and true. Later on in Russia the President died and in Rome the Pope, too. The Kennadys' political behaviour were troubling ... the Lords of the War. I was in NY with my pupils and had been in the Twins Towers just the day before it happened...there is so much to write about your well penned historical poem and it should be given as a test to students. Thanks for the reading and may God bless you and have a nice day.

I loved the suspense as the poem built! I might suggest to add more capitalization to help emphasize key moments. I really think that this poem captured the sober feeling that fell over people when JFK was assassinated and that you conveyed the confusion and fear that followed this event.

I read this and was thinking of the day. I was driving for Greyhound at the time. I had just left going east just before it happened. I learned after reaching my destination. Such a shame. I find nothing wrong with this write
