I wanted someone who did not everything - missing word?
You explain your attitudes at this age effectively and also describe the events as they unfold clearly :-) Brooke

To robina1978,
You clearly have lead a very interesting and outgoing life.
You are very fortunate to have seen so many things on your travels before settling down.
Errors noted:
1)[I used to go out three days every weekend.]- this misquoted, either it is three days a week or three times on the weekend.
2)....against the sheltered life I had. ["had and,had"-omit] (new sentence)A vivid mind and curiosity about life and people I had.
3)I wanted someone who did [not](do) everything I wanted,...

4)[For holidays I used to go with my sister or a girlfriend.]
(fragmented)
I used to go with my sister or a girlfriend for holidays.)

5) They used to be relatively calm[;], so these holidays were [relatively](mainly)-{try not to be repetitive} peaceful and decent.

6)At 27 years of age, there was nobody available to go on holiday(s) with. (Therefore,I)[Gathering](gathered) up (enough) courage,(and) [I] booked one(ticket)alone, then (I)nearly sold [the ticket](it) to my mother as I felt so scared of going by myself.

7)Fortunately(,) she [would](did) not take it and I did go to Corfu of all places. I like(d) culture and picked a Greek isle with hardly any(?). On the plane I made friends with an elderly lady, so I would at least not have to eat alone. [And it]It made me [felt](feel) safer.

8)I said that[we](I) would [just](have to) wait and see.

9)[This really meant that I had no interest whatsoever. He did not know this of course.]- this statement is clearly not necessary to state at all.
Charlene

Your experiences at the university parallel at least a few of mine. I grew up in a Baptist family. I have ancestors who founded the Baptist Chruch in the State of Kentucky. If you are well versed int he history of 17th Century England and Early Colonial America, it would not surprise you that some of my ancestors left England to avoid religious persecution. One Thomas who came over of the Mayflower. The Puritans of New England begat Baptists.

Anyway when I went off to college I rebelled a bit as well. I have rebounded to have very firm beliefs but they are in no way close to what I was taught as a youth.

Oh I bet a love story is about to be told..my mom met my dad in the middle of a little back country road in Kentucky on her way down to the post office. My aunt had met dad but mom hadn't. Aunt Alice didn't introduce them. So dad got made and turned around and went back to town, made himself known, mom invited him to a get together with some friends and that was it..they knew they were in love that first day, met in February and married in August. Can't wait to see what happens next. God bless.

This is such a heart warming romantic story. It's great to read a positive story once in a while. My favorite line "I changed boyfriends more often than shoes..." You go girl!

Thanks for your time and review. Much appreciated, Ine. That stopped once I met Robert. Glad I lost my wild hairs before I met him.

Instead of going off to college, I joined the Air Force at age 18. I never was really wild, but I did go to some very wild places. I remember a few trips to Holland in the late 1960s -- not the wild spots. I had settled down by then. Looking forward to your story.

Morning-this sounds like a very interesting story and i look forward to reading more. How many times as kids do we feel we know it all and are thankful for some of the decisions at least.
