The sound of the rain, the picture, and the words of your story have me shivering myself. LOL. Taking submissions from fellow writers is a generous invitation, and I hope many join in. Personally, my humble beginnings can't measure up, but one of these days, my friend. Thanks for another great micro story. :-)

Hi Dean,

I once had the idea that some ought to grow telepathic tomato plants that ate meat. The idea was that the 'fresh meat' they got were the neighbor's dogs, along with the neighbor's kids, just like Jeanie. Jeanie here might be the first 'Pumpkin Patch' Kid doll. The 'prize winning tomatoes' scenario didn't work out.

Initially, I was thinking of a Mr. Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) who wrote a ditty with a character named Puddn'head Wilson. I wonder if Jeanie went back to school the next day, & then the school bully said,

"HEY, DUDES! IT'S PUMPKINHEAD JEANIE!" Then Jeanie could carry the axe.

This seems too oddly reminiscent of the last review I wrote with your friend Ichabod Whacker.

Maybe with all those 'Pumpkin People' Jeanie ought be a contestant on CHOPPED.

I like how you make these scenarios open ended. This reminds me of the days before television. You had to use your imagination with the radio.

Perhaps H.G. Wells ought to have performed publicly something called WAR OF THE PUMPKINS as opposed to WAR OF THE WORLDS.

Poor Jeanie.

Pass me that pumpkin pie,
Shane

I'm not hungry right now, but I'll go ask it. I'm sort of afraid what the answer might be. It does look rather famished... :)

Hi, Dean...

You have to really know this genre to write it, which, I must say, you have the market cornered on. This was really good.

I hope more take you up on the challenge. I'd be a duck out of water trying to write something. I'll stick to reading and enjoying. (*<*)

Excellent.

Cheers & Blessings

Thanks, Jax. That seems to be the common response I'm getting where adding to this book's concerned. Where are all the Robert Blochs, Stephen Kings, and Clive Barkers when you need 'em? Oh wait...they're making real money doing this...

    Never mind...;)

Fortunately the grave yards I have visited have many things of interest mainily the records of family tidings and events that took lives - like the plague. Still I wouldn't go there in the dark.

It gets dark pretty fast around these parts in the winter, Alan, around 5:00 pm during daylight savings time. Perhaps poor Jeanie shouldn't have stayed after school for that extra credit, 'ey?

    Much obliged for the review...~Dean

I didn't know you were collecting stories from other authors for this book, I thought it was all yours. Not that I think I could write one. This one is another excellent one, leaving little for the imagination, yet lots do come to mind. Love the sound effects too. Excellent! xsx sandra

Hi Dean, another disgustingly grisly one from you. LOL. I'm intrigued to know how your mind works. A bit of a cliffhanger - you leave us wondering what is going to happen to Jeanie. It is always good to leave the reader wonder. That's when imagination runs riot. Well done - AGAIN..... warm regards Dorothy x

Thanks, Dorothy. It's been my experience that with flash fiction, the ending is always best left to interpretation of the individual reader.

I very much appreciate your comments and thoughtful feedback....~Dean

This is yet another interesting and scary story from the author. I would love to add to your book, but I'm afraid it isn't my genre or even writing medium. I am trying to concentrate on my scripts. Good luck with all of your endeavours.

Dean, you are the king of dramatic irony. The reader knows Jeanie shouldn't be going into the pumpkin patch...we see all the haunting clues you've strewn along her path...but she keeps on going...blindly into trouble. Our hearts stop with every step.

Thanks, boxergirl, I'm trying very hard to be original, creative and entertaining with these short snippets of terror and suspense. I appreciate the interest you've shown in the series thus far...~Dean

Spooky, but that is the point of course. As I have said before I like your writing, but where is this going or does it just stands on it's own as it is? Looking forward to read more. Ulla

It's a stand alone story, Ulla. Just a bit of flash horror fiction as are all of the stories in this series. I very much appreciate you taking an interest, and thanks for your comments and feedback as always. ~Dean
