A very well-written Villanelle about the passing of the fly that usually happen on the most inconvenient times and be embarrassed in front of a crowd.

Amen. My first pair of jeans were button-fly, bell bottoms, and I mourned their passing. Actually, they were a size 2 and I had moved onward and upward. :)
I enjoyed this form of poetry and subject matter. The famous button-fly made by Levis.
Sending you my best today as always,
Sally xo

Thanks very much for your review, Sally. Much appreciated. Although my picture was of a pair of jeans, I haven't worn those despicable garments in more than fifty years! Pockets in the wrong places! LOL

Hi Tony, this brings back memories of the 501 Jeans. Always brought them back from New York to my daughter's father. He loved them and so did I. Hmm ... yeah!
I loved your poem, which made me laugh out loud. Something we sorely need these days. Wonderfully written. Ulla:)))

Hahaha this is great. I do love me a button fly. Except when I have to go to the bathroom really bad hahahahaha. Then I prefer the zipper! But this is super cute and fun. I enjoyed it. Nice job

I agree with you, Tony, even if I am female I loved the wonderful 501 Jeans. They were so comfy. Of course I haven't wore a pair in years I still remember the days when I did. LOL Jaunty little poem! Well done. Stay in and stay safe. Nancy:)

Hello Tony, not just a perfectly executed Villanelle but a well written fun poem. It brought back the memory of my wedding day when the zip to my dress got briefly stuck - I recall the panic, but it worked out OK. Actually I'm thinking if you are in isolation because of this coronavirus then neither zipper nor trousers need be a problem - you can just go without them. How liberating LOL!! Of course, we women have trousers with flies now and I agree the zip can be a problem. Take care and stay well. Great poem and glad I had a 6 left so late in the week - regards Dorothy x

This is absolutely hilarious! I loved it! Great flow, simple amusing message, and nothing deep that I had to think about. Not much amuses me this much these days and I want to thank you for sharing.

LOL I won't even go into details about my little first grade boys and zippers or buttons. It's actually hilarious. Unfortunately, in today's society, I take them out in the hallway to help them with their pants so I have a camera to prove that I did nothing other to help them with their pants. I smiled at your poem.
