I'm really happy to say, my daughters and my wife are all best friends, I feel a little like a fifth wheel when I'm around them, but my wife led the way when they were young, I'm so proud of them, and they married their only boyfriends, who are likewise great dads and husbands and treat us well. But my boyhood household wasn't like that, I'm sorry to say, but thanks for sharing, beautifully written, good luck, blessings Roy

This poem, Sister Love, points out that sisters are related but not always able to relate to one another. I had five brothers and sisters who were simply acquaintances to me.

You picked a subject to write about that most sisters can relate to in either a positive or negative way. I have two sisters with a two year difference between each of us. When we were young we were very competitive. Now that we are older, we are friends. I love the picture you chose, and the truth you told in your poem. Well done.

This is a very truthful viewpoint, but not the experience of everyone. Of course the love is always there, but an age gap can make all the difference. My sister was 12 years older then me, so we were never close, but my 3 daughters were 2 years apart and the best of friends. Not that they didn't get annoyed with each other, they just wouldn't show it. They told me instead!

I loved this little story poem and just because we are sisters it does mean we are automatically friends, we have to put up with sisters and if they do become our friend we are lucky, but often this is not the case, your write is honest and I could identify with your words here, love Dolly x

T can appreciate that this is often the case, but to me it is very sad. My daughters are best friends and this pleases me enormously. It makes up for the fact that I don't have a sister to be friends with.

I definitely don't think poetry has to rhyme...in fact it is a distraction sometimes and can produce a false narrative. There's nothing false about your free verse. It's honest and insightful, straight from the heart. Nice job.

True, but peace and liking come with time and challenges. As kids, I and my sister were not close, but when we got married and away from each other we started to appreciate this bond.
