I used to watch Hogsns Heros as a kid. Actually they are on Catchy TV, a channel airing many old TV shows, (when TV sit-coms were good).
My father's favorite back then was All in the Fzmiky. Now that show would never fly today.
Debi, I enjoyed your poem and a tribute to your dad and the joy you had hearing him laugh
I'm sure you can still hear it...
Cheers,
John

Hey John, I thank you very much. This was a fun one to write and bring back two years later. I appreciate all your kind words for this oldie to honor dads on Father's Day. Thanks again, my dear bro. Love, Debi

Loved Hogans Heroes as a lad, though was not clever enough to take up that line, yet some of it must have rubbed off, because if trouble loomed, I was always trying to escape, wonderfully written, an excellent read and poem for this prompt, best wishes****kahpot

LoL. I remember Hogan's Heroes! And dear old Schultz was always such a likable enemy. I like how you used his defense in real life and how it continued through the generations! Fun!

Would you believe that my calcium was on the step at 5:30 this morning and I have already taken my first dose. So thanks, but wow, 5 is a lot to swallow, literally. Haha. You see, I trust you with my life. (Big smile)
Thanks for the kind comments for this one. It is fun to go back and clean things up and get them ready. Wow, what a difference from the first time I posted it. Love ya. Debi

How cool that you are editing and revising old posts. I should do that, too. But old promotions do nothing for this current year's ratings.
If it makes you feel better, I've been taking the calcium for about five years now. Hubby did it for awhile but now he's decided against all supplements.
-
Are you saying that new reviews do nothing for my daily poetry scores towards my rank?
Yes, I will try one bottle and see what my next scans say.
-
Yes, that's right. Posts from previous years which reach an All Time Best do not count towards this year's ratings.
-
Ok, well then a big waste of money, wouldn't you say?
Well as long as I got all these new sixes for it??? Hmmmmm? Then why does he offer that if we get
Nothing, Nothing at all? LOL
-
Well, some people like seeing the All Time Best symbols next to all their posts. So it's still a feel good option.
-
Shoot, I already have all of those. Oh well, live and learn.

What? This is one short of the ATB mark? I'd have been here sooner but...
"I know nothing, I know nothing at all!"
Not sure how I missed it, but here's a late review...
Hope your "ATB" will bring a smile today, to you!

Oh you are simply amazing! Thank you for that beauty. Those early ones need some editing before i get them ready to put into a poetry book.
Thank you again. I bet you were one helluva nurse Thelma.
Maybe even a halo, while you glowed!
-
I was a caring nurse who never backed down from advocating for my patients.
NO halo..no glowing...unless I was glowing red hot from some irresponsible M.D. who refused to wash his or her hands before going from patient to patient! (smile)
-
The ATB you made possible was a blessing dear friend. And also, just so you know, nurses like you and Lisa, never think of themselves as others do. It's the fact that you don't see the glow, and the wings that make you so special. Thank you God, that my Karenina didn't get her wing clipped too when going down those steps. But i bet they don't feel too well.
You have read, 'Deadly Shooting at Allina Clinic,' Right? And I told you that I was supposed to be there at 10 that morning for labs? But Glen wasn't home and I had such a bad headache that I didn't feel like driving.
Ironically that is about the time this all happened. Another really good friend who worked behind the desk was shot 5 times and survived, but is both mentally and physically not doing well yet.
God really does nudge us some days. Maybe not like a snowplow, but that day it felt close to one.

I never questioned the blessings of delays and intuitive sudden changes of routes and the like. There is always a reason behind the obvious!

Hi Debi,
Ah, Sgt. Schultz! I remember him well. "I see nnnnothing!" Such fun watching Hogan's Heroes back in the day. That's where Richard Dawson got his start. He played the part of Corporal Peter Newkirk at the prison camp. And his role led to a long-time stint on Match Game, and then Family Feud where he liked to kiss all the women.
Your repeated line is quite effective,
"I know Nothing, I know Nothing at all!"
Better for the German sergeant to know nothing than admit a mistake.
And I enjoyed your tales how you adopted the line when needed. It became your go-to line.
Great comedy! They don't make many good comedy shows anymore. I always enjoyed "Laverne & Shirley" and "WKRP in Cincinnati".
You like comedy, too... just like your dad.
Cheers,
Kimbob

Oh yes, my dad loved Hogan's Heroes, and the crew. I do remember that Richard Dawson started there, and I get a kick out of watching the old Match Game shows where they smoked right there on the panel. And as he later kissed all the women, that eventually became a no no on FF.
I do love comedy, as most of my poetry has a comical surprise ending, which has been kind of my style, as well as spiritual poems. Thank you Kimbob for your fun review and comments about this poem.

Thank you so much Linda, as always you are so sweet! I love that you had that memory w your dad too! Actually you are the 4th one to tell me that, and it's so much fun to hear. I love when someone can relate to the same story, just as you had w my Hee Haw poem. Unfortunately I was disqualified from that one, because the committee didn't think it was a tribute to the show. That they were random stories I made up. I tried to explain that they were actual skits from the show, but it can't be easy for them to try to keep everything running smoothly either. I got over it : )
But thank you so much Linda, for such a lovely review! You're a Sweetheart!
-
your so welcome sweet girl...
I have had my problems with the contest
committee as well...but a lot of people have...I saw where there were spots open
to get into a contest...so I sent the money...shortly after that I got a notification saying the spots were all gone...so I told them the front page said there were open spots...so I ask for the money back...and they said there were no refunds...so I stopped going into the contest...once in awhile...but not often...
your story was perfect...that was just wrong...I'm so sorry that happened to you...
but done feel alone...smiling back at you...love you...Linda xxoo

It is a very well-written poem, and I liked the idea of each stanza. The sentence, I said, nothing, I said nothing at all, adds so much to your poem. Your writing is fun in this poem.

Comment from Wayne Fowler
Well written. Well thought out.
Good rhyming. Natural imagery.
It was amazing how someone took a very serious book and made a hit comedy series.
Best wishes.

Wayne, I always respect your comments and feedback so much, as you are a great reviewer! So the fact that you really liked this, means more to me than you could possibly know! My dad always said that we appreciate people more when they can be honest, as a complement from them is to be honored. I am very honored by your review and kind comments.
Thank you, my friend!

Debi,
I used to watch this show all the time with my wwii vet dad).
it came to Germany about 25 years ago, and the German people really liked it. Lol. True.
I like the way you apply the 'know nothing' idea to each of your stanzas.
Your work really flows.
Excellent poem.
Blessings,
And good luck!

That is unreal! You are the 2nd person who told me that! That is so cool.
The other one is named Margaret, but she uses the name Moon something.
I'll have to look. The three of us can chat or text. I don't mind giving you girls my number. Anyway thanks for the fun review. And I still want to know how you knew that I did Morning Dance Recital?
Comment from Anne Johnston
I like your poem, great rhyming and fun to read. And you have followed the rules for the contest by repeating the line. So nice that you have this great memory of your dad and the laughter that made him special to you.
Very well done.
