The picture was awesome--loved it, Debbie. I enjoyed
reading your poem. Congratulations on your win. Your
words flowed smoothly with good rhymes and a great
story to tell. Even if it doesn't work properly, it's still
special. I believe the line 'to mark his passing time denoted
the time that showed on the clock--6:30.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thank you so much for your lovely review and comments. I'm afraid the 6.30 was a bit of a cheeky reference to "hands down" in the final stanza. I should have been clearer in the notes. Very best wishes, Debbie

I enjoyed this and I understand your love of the clock. My husband has I would guess about 80 clocks in the house, while none as grand as yours, he keeps them going.
Very well written and a delightful read.
Best wishes
Mary

Such history personal and otherwise can be enshrined in a clock, especially clocks from another era -final two lines of stanza one are a delight - should make it to winner's enclosure- has my vote-thanks for sharing

Thank you so much for your wonderful rating and comments. I am so delighted that you enjoyed this especially the last 2 lines illustrated by the 'hands down' to 6.30 on the clock (fear it might have been missed by others) Very best wishes, Debbie

A very good post for the object contest Your descriptions, and bit of personification, were fun to read. Now, both of my parents have past, and I understand the sentiment of spending more to maintain an old object than it was; originally worth. The value is in who first; owned it. I'm youngest so I'm lucky mg parents gave me some small things, while they were alive, that I treasure dearly. Your father's clock was a beautiful object, thank you for sharing.abiutt it. Good writing! :))

My mother has also a much loved clock in this style, and I don't think hers works too well but it's precious. Well written poem with smooth rhyme. Best wishes for the contest.

There are some things that money can't buy, such as precious memories.

A beautiful poem, full of sentimentality. Well written, good meter and it makes for a great read.

This poem, My Clock, presented with ABCB-rhymed quatrains, shows a man and his clock can never be torn asunder. Sometimes time needs to be bigger than life.

This is excellent! I really enjoyed your rhythm and rhymes, and it painted a very clear picture of what I'm sure is an exquisite clock, despite its malfunctions. Well done and best of luck in the contest!

Time is very precious, even when there is not enough time in the day. You must have a grand dad clock; many of our furnishings have a sentimental value. Very precious!

Isn't it amazing how certain objects, especially those that we hold dear, take on a life of their own? And we love them for it. Your rhyming is flawless and the words just tick along... Well done. Wish I had six stars left to give this one.
