Great stuff! If there's anything I'm guilty of on this site (besides poor writing!) it's the guilt I feel when I am, for one reason or another, unable to fully respond to a reviewer. Hospitalization has cut into my FS time often. At such times, i try to notify at least some tht I appreciate their reviews and works and apologize for replies I missed. What is the use of being on this site if you are not going to profit from the advice of people who KNOW? And I love and cherish the friends I have "met" on this site!

Jim, I think I speak for the masses in that we understand how health and hospitalization can affect those on this site. And got me, I would never hold that against anyone!

Lol. John, I have just posted my chapter, before I read yours, and mine is called "With Due Respect". Seems we think VERY alike. I included my dislike for cut and paste responses to reviews, and for people who are easily upset by a suggestion offered respectfully, and bristle with annoyance. I am so glad I'm not the only one who thinks like this and perhapps if it is said often and loudly enough, someeone might listen.

Hi, Wendy. I actually read your post this morning when I woke up at 4:30 before I went to work. Our crazy minds seemed to have worked in tandem, though yours was more eloquently written.

Dang I really wish I didn't have a 150 limit. I really wanted to respond "Thank you!" Just for the laugh. This would have been great in the rant contest.
Some don't even respond to your review. I have done that when the reviewer is rude arrogant or gets political nasty.

Some don't even respond to your review. I have done that when the reviewer is rude arrogant or gets political nasty.

Your complaint is legitimate. There are some issues with the site. But meeting great people like you is a huge plus!

I think this is a very valid point, John. I like to hear back from the writer because I like to start forming a bond. If I've cared enough to write a review (I'm no review whore; if I don't like a piece, I will NOT review it, even if it's high up on the FS Member Dollars food chain and I could plump up my own coffers. Soooo will not do it.) I like to make connections, though, and start dialogs with writers whose work I've enjoyed.
I've noticed that you are the CONSUMMATE "replier" to reviews, and for that, I thank you. And I like our burgeoning friendship that's come about as a result, too!
Nicely written piece, this chapter. I think it will be a lovely asset to to compilation.

Hi John, I hear you. You've penned a story of truth. There have been writers on FS who never respond to reviews--none currently that I know of--but after a few reviews, I stopped reviewing them. I didn't care how much they were paying.
