HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! Best. Christmas Story. EVERRRRR!!! OMG, Diane!! This is HILARIOUS! You made this so vivid and imaginable, I will think of it every time I'm mega-shopping. Moral to your cautionary tale: ALWAYS CHECK YOUR BEHIND FOR DANGLING GOLD EARRINGS!!

As talented as you are at poetry, you are MASTERFUL at prose. I absolutely LOVED this story!! xoxox

    Hello, Rachelle!
Could only happen to me; of that I am certain!
I am thrilled my debacle resonated with you! It's a memory that still haunts me. (Someday I shall share with you my pantyhose debacle as well...) Oy!
    Thank you again!
And of course, Merry Christmas to you and yours!

This is an excellent, funny story since you all were laughing in the end. I remember shopping like that, but not anymore. These days, I shop online. You wrote an unusual Christmas story. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

You have described HELL! A nightmare. I often ask my wife to share my pleasure, having her read a post - not this time. Though the writing is superb (of course), the subject and descriptions would give her nightmares the whole night through.
Our grocery shopping is before 7AM. Our gift shopping is on-line (when possible). we avoid town during lunch and Fridays through Mondays (except early church).
I remember my mother buying Christmas presents beginning in January, getting items she noted people saying that they'd wished for.

    Hah! Wayne!
    Retail HELL!
You and your wife remind me of my husband who swears he could be - and is quickly becoming - a hermit! How he despises shopping!
I used to purchase gifts for loved ones in January, but then came the year that I forgot where I put most of them, so I don't do that anymore! Hah!

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Wayne!
    Thank you!

This is about a ten star, but I only have 6 to give! What a great story and I was pleased to see a happy ending. Christmas should always be a happy ending when we have a choice in the matter -- as you did with these three young women. And most of the time, we do. Great work. ann

Ha! This piece gave me a big belly laugh and a feeling of warmth that came not just from enjoying the humour, but admiration of your incredible patience and bonhomie. I'm fairly certain that my own reaction in such a situation would not have been so gracious! Kudos and thank you so much for the share! :)

OMG what an ordeal you have been through!! I must admit it is a very funny, well written non fictional story lol. I personally hate Christmas shopping and no longer do it. Thanks for sharing this very funny tale.

Hello Mrs. KT

You had me with the first sentence. That is a sign of a good writer. That first impression makes all the differnce. You make the reader commited to seeing the story through to the end.

Your dialogue was fresh and realistic. Excellent work.

Best Regards,
Mark

Very nice flow to this story and the characters and events are truly believable

No SPAG or typos that I could see - I was too engrossed in getting to the end - so I can't be of much help there - but that tells you that this story was very well written

Oh, that poor woman! Christmas is, by far, my favorite season, but it's such a busy and hectic holiday! And this story just pretty much proves it. We all see the last minute shoppers running in stores and grabbing up last minute gifts (I am guilty of that as well) This was a humorous, and very true story. Nicely done! =]

I enjoyed your story. I, too, am a shopaholic.
It happened to me once...not just before Christmas, but in a familiar store.
So I was riveted to your story from the part where the bells and whistles and flashing lights went off.
In my case, they, of course, found nothing and it wasn't funny for any reason.
But I can laugh with you and for the first time, I can remember my embarrassing incident with humor.
Well written.
