The road to recovery is a long, twisted, painful path after the loss of a loved one. This was a sweet a gentle treatment of dealing with loss. Family support at a time like that, means everything. A beautiful story, Carol. I liked it a lot.

This is a lovely story! I was really pleased to read that it is a work of fiction.
You really do have a way of taking the reader right into the minute. In the midst of the sadness, I loved the touch of humour. Well written.

Hi Carol,
There is so much to like about this story. I could feel the pain of loss deeply and my heart went out to 'mommy.' You described the stress of pregnancy so well that it took me back to when I was pregnant. A little sad but a well written and delightful story. Good luck in the contest. Blessings, chey

A very nice story full of an interesting plot and wonderful characters. I really like the descriptive details of the pregnancy. It brought back many memories. Learning something special about her father through her own daughter is a special gift.

A good start to a novel. This could go a lot of different ways. I love Katie. She seems so real and adorable.
(this should be we or he instead of you)You hoped I was carrying a son.
Mommy really needs to get busy(.)"

Donna,
It started out as just an idea, but now I love the characters too. Could become quite an adventure for the family. Thanks...Carol

Solid opening for a novel. You can really take this intro in any direction, in just about any genre.
Really nice touch with the little girl seeing that her Mom's shoes were on backwards. And you've already begun to develop the characters of all mentioned.
Well done as usual.

This is so very good, great writing. Sad, but with a message of hope, life goes on. The part where the little girl pointed out her mum had her shoes on the wrong feet was a good touch, made this reader smile. I'd really like to see this opening made into a book. And the artwork is beautiful. How do you go about putting artwork at the top of a posting, and does it cost anything?
Ps I really wish you luck with this entry.

Ladybird,
First of all, I want to thank you so much for always being so encouraging and for the great comments, I really appreciate the thoughts and stars.
Secondly, it's really simple to add artwork. When you are posting a story, at the very top of the page it asks if you want to select fan art review or import from your own computer. Choose fan art review...once there you cn select or searchfor a picture that suits your story. To add it to your story, push the select button on top of the particular picture you want to choose. It will be imported to your posting.
Hope that helps...If you need additonal info feel free to pm me.
smiles, Carol
