Hi Deepwater,

I thought this poem was both well written and well conceived, it has a strong message. I suppose we can't really help passing on our mistakes in thought and deed to our children, but perhaps with a little efforts we can try at least.

This work flows well and has a powerful message within it.
The best lines-
Leave them to study history,
We continue to make the same mistakes,
Learn from evolution.

Some wise words you have written here. Each generation always hopes that the next one will "do it better." They may learn from our mistakes, but then are forced to face whole set of new ones and on it goes. Nice concise writing, I enjoyed reading it.

No greater lessons exist than those of history, and it's my firm belief that all should be encouraged to educate themselves on it (or be thoroughly educated, if young!). Of course, with age comes one's own burgeoning history, and hence wisdom. I very much enjoyed your poem.

You do say some wise and interesting things at times--lots of times. I agree that children should learn from adults perhaps that is the prob that they do not seem to be able to garner the experience and disappointments of their elders

Interesting poem, you seem a bit hopeless about your future. Your feelings are conveyed well in this poignant poem.
Nice picture which enhances the overall meaning. Glad your grandkids lift your spirits.

God bless.

The children are the hope of the future.
They will watch what we do. We need to
be careful what we are teaching them, because
they will learn from us. And soon, their
ingrained ideas will dominate the world.

My favorite lines were
"Let the children play.... And watch.
Leave us our hopes and dreams,
With age." - JeJo

You are on target with this one. Maybe our kids will do a bit better job. The interesting thing about kids is that they come in to the world with a clean slate. Sometimes we fill that slate with the wrong stuf.

Deepwater-the key to me with what you written is that the adults don't stunt the childs growth. Handicapping them with rhetoric that disables their capacity to make judgement without bias. I would agree that they need to be children as long as possible for when that period is over the true challenges begin. Many adults remain child-like for they grew up too fast and sometime try to act child-like because of this. I can touch upon many things in this writing and the number one is let the children play and play until they are ready to transition....Free
