This is a wonderful poem and I am in awe of your idiom knowledge. I was chuckling all the way thru, not just at the humor, which was excellent, but at the ability you've shown at knocking it all together. Loved it. Very good.

Probably and you'll probably win this contest too. Good story without the idioms; all very recognizable. Enjoyable reading material. Good luck in the contest.

Yes, I do dig this poem. It is chock full of bits of wisdom I have heard all my life. Your rhythm and rhyme are perfectly executed and the mixed message quite clear. Best of luck in the contest. Blessings, Linda

Comment from Earl of Oxford
Fun notes, Steve - yes, it is a longun (as the actress said to the bishop). :-)
ALL stanzas so clever and so funny - 'every one a winner'.
I genuinely smiled and giggled all the way through and in the end wanted more (unusual for me when reading longuns.
You've excelled the contest criteria by miles. and 'I take my hat off to you'.
Worth a sixer of 'anyone's money'.
This must win! 'Happy hunting'.

Thank you - a sixer from the man who wrote all the works of Shakespeare is good enough for me.

HI! kiwisteveh,I must say that I really like your style, anyone who can make me laugh out loud through 12 verses of a poem is definitely O.K. by me, and, to top it off by inserting 39 idioms into the rhymes--FANTASTIC! To call all that "Well done!" just doesn't go far enough. Thank you for making, not only my day, but my week! wiljacro.

At least this one is suitable for children - don't think I included anything even a tiny bit suggestive.
How old is your little girl?

all she does is moshi monsters - google it . those tiny monsters gobble up lots of hard earned cash.
you could write a pretty good/horrible- poem about all the ways clever companys suck money out of parents.

Brilliant and very clever.
You merged all these idiom together so smoothly.
I love the ones that connect with each other. It's hard to pick a favourite because they are all so good.
The rhythm and rhymes are great throughout and I can offer no suggestions for improvement.
