Oh, Dean. The baby's room? Is nothing sacred? It is just 7 p.m. and all the lights are on. I used to have a baby monitor for mother, in her room and in our living room and it would produce some strange noises.

I take it the baby is dead, hubby is next and wifey ends it all.

*shudder* Going to go take a shower now....wait...that's not safe either...go lock the doors first...I'll just sit here in the office until hubby gets home. *whispers, I'm not afraid*

Yeah, Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho did for taking showers what William Shatner's bust did for Halloween...made it hell'a scary, lol.

A touch of creep for the wee hours
No old tale this, with your surround sound and blue ray
I think I'd a been after the creepy voice
at the first sight of those headlights
Now you've gone an ruined a perfectly good lullaby
not to mention a good marriage
October is the season of the creep
Well done

Hi Dean
Creepy yes, so when the dad heard what he thought ((sounded)) like his wife singing to the baby-

Rock-a-Bye Baby, in the Treetops
When the wind blows the cradle will rock
When the bough breaks the cradles will fall
Down will come baby, cradle and all.

: Dean, when I heard the lullaby the second time I heard it as this

I'll put you in a tree
And when the branch breaks
You'll fall and die.

Really gave me the creeps

Good one

Gert

    You are welcome
What is this- one can contribute to the book?

    Gert

All premium members can contribute a horror story to this book, Gert, as long as it is prose, not poetry, and no more than 500 words in length. Just click on any chapter of the book, from anyone's profile page who have contributed a tale of their own. Then, click on the "Add Chapter" tab, and add your story. Just like adding a poem to a book of poetry...same principle.

Dear God! The scream scared the hell out of me. I never liked that song, I always thought it was a strange lullaby about a baby falling out of its cradle in a tree. Now I really don't like that lullaby. Great story and fun notes too.

Hahahaha, I've never liked that song either, Smurph. It's always given me the heebie-jeebies and that's exactly why I used it.

Your notes are more fun than the story. FUN--did I actually call the murder of a child fun? Okay, let's hope he didn't have the heart to do it and just went after the parents. LOL

The harsh sound certainly set the mood of shock at the return of the wife when you were intent that she was already home and tending the baby. Very good "Tiny Tale of Horror." Regards - Alan

Oh what a sweet, lovely story. Just warms the heart. Your tales have a way of doing that. =} As always spooky and well written. Do you have bad dreams at night?

Always nightmares, Roxanna, never dreams. But only when I'm fortunate to fall asleep at all.
Thank you very much for your review and comments.

Okay, I KNEW this would be creepy when I saw that you had a new chapter to your book posted. This is a quiet symphony of terror, as the sound of that singing gradually turns from a soft lullaby to a harbinger of horror. I don't know if it's a ghost or a psychotic killer in the house, but either way I'm sure it's not good...not good at all.
Excellent job, Dean (thank goodness my husband is home from his trip!!)

Hah-hah, that particular lullaby has always given me the willies, Carol. That's why I chose to use it over all the others.
