Hi anon, I love this poem. I feel it could have been mine - I treasure my plants and this poem resonates with me. Your display is gorgeous, and your words I really like. Keep talking to that lovely fern - it works. LOL. Well written on rather a difficult subject - good luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothy x

Yes, they will come back with a little tender loving care, (and a whack!) lol. This is a fun contest entry, and I enjoyed reading it. Well done and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xxx

Obviously a plant lover that talks to plants. (I do) Cute poem for those of us that would rather cure a plant than throw it away. Silly as it sounds, nurturing a plant is good karma.

This is very well written and presented. My wife keeps ferns around all the time.

Your words gave me a chuckle or two, thanks for that. Enjoy your Sunday...Bill

Hello Mystery Poet,

I enjoyed reading your poem this morning :) I confess to being a plant killer, especially ferns. They are more delicate than most. I'm glad to read the dead plant appears to have new shoots. I'm not keen on this couplet style of poetry, but that's just my personal thing. Best wishes in the voting booths.

Joy xx

A very well-written poem about the dying plant that needs to be speak to in love and good words from its owner to strive even when the circumstances are not ideal and friendly.

Dear Anonymous Poet,

So, the plant needs to live so the owner won't be alone, right?

I've killed so many houseplants I would never dare ask a plant to come back to life for me. My children now buy me fake plants.

I tried to grow pot plants when they became legal in Oregon - I killed them, too.

I wish you luck in the contest with this tale of love for a fern,

~Mustang Patty~

We have a fern that I'm trying to save. We pruned it back. Now it's shooting out tender green again. The other one we had didn't make it. A bird nested in it and over the summer I didn't water it on one side or I'd hurt the baby birds.
I like the prompt and the poem
God bless

They say that plant life can hear us and they are much more sensitive to our world than we are to theirs! I enjoyed the sentiments here in your unusual, and imaginative write, love Dolly x

Good luck with your contest entry; plants are amazing and we need to talk to them, they do listen. I liked your take on a dying fern. Prolific they are in our sub-tropics. One could say, dime a dozen. All plants need our love and care. Well done poet.
