This is a very cute poem. I really enjoyed reading it. The repitition works really well. I think this is a very good entry for the competition. Good luck and best wishes. Jen.

It's so very much appreciated! Thanks again

"Hogan's Heroes" was my favorite show when I was growing up. We had a foreign exchange student living with us at the time, and he was from Germany. I was amazed that he thought the show was great. That was about sixty years ago, and he still keeps in touch. He has even visited us with his wife a few times.

This repetitive poem, I Know Nothing, tales n=me back to Hogan's Heroes, Colonel Klink and sergeant Schultz. I recall repeating that line a few times as well. Good memories.

Thanks so much Bill. It was fun to write and made me think of my dad with fond bittersweet memories. Thank you so much for your kind review, as I smile every time I hear from so many like yourself, who recalled watching this show as well.

Excellent repetition. I remember (as a child) watching Shultz. He became a hero to TV watchers. He was a dumb-cluck, maybe he only knew one sentence. I loved your poem for your Dad. K xx

Thank you so much for the very lovely review. It was fun to write, but even more fun to read the reviews from people like you who it sparked fond memories. Thanks for giving me a smile back in return.

I definitely remember "Hogan's Heroes" and Sgt. Schmidt. It was very clever and original of you to use his catchphrase as your repeated line. You definitely followed the contest rules, as your poem used the exact line three times. Varying the line elsewhere just made your poem more interesting. I enjoyed that you used the phrase over several scenarios and several generations.

You're very welcome. Believe me, the fun you had showed in the writing, which helped to make it such an enjoyable read.

Haha, what a fun approach to the contest. Your repeated line
works great. Your poem was fun to read, there's smooth
flow, and great imagery. I enjoyed the notes, too. The image
is hilarious, but perfect.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

Thank you Jan so much for your kind review. It was a fun one to write, but sure made me miss my dad, as it's only been a few years. However as we all miss loved ones, these kind of memories are so bittersweet!

I loved that show, they still do reruns of it now, "Hogans Heroes" and sergeant Schultze where that quote comes from, a greedy soldier who could aways be bribed with food, heh heh and Colonel Kilnk the befuddled camp commandant. This is a brilliant post, I loved the read, thank you, blessings Roy

Thank you so much Roy! I love that this was also such a fun show for you, as I remember Col Kline and Hogan, (who I had a crush on) but for me it was mostly loving to hear my dad laugh! And Schultz certainly delivered that. Thank you so much for your fun and kind review!

He did indeed

Hello author, I had to read this poem when I saw the photo of Shultz.
He, too, was a favorite of my father--a WWII Veteran. He would laugh so hard at Schultz, and I always sat on the couch with him while watching this TV show. I can still see and hear his laugh. Your poem reads and flows well, and your message is clear. Good choice of repeating line. A fun poem that made me smile. As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck. We must be around the same age? Thanks for the memory. LateBloomer

I loved what you said about you and your father. I feel like it's a tribute to him as well, since our stories are so similar in many ways. After I was done writing it, I had more time to reflect and realized how very much I missed being that little girl, sitting on his lap, and enjoying hearing him laugh.
And the pride I feel for his unselfish duty to our country, as well as his mother and family as a teenage boy, made me realize I missed him even more than I thought. I'm sure you miss your dad in much the same way. I feel honored by your kind review and I appreciate it so very much!

A clever composition. Perhaps this will find a place be it 1-2- or 3. I like it that much but I still need to read the rest. Good job. ....................................................

You did a great job with the guidelines, I think. Your fictional tale was very entertaining. It made me laugh, that's for sure. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Jesse, for your kind review. As it's something we only ever said in fun, but seemed like a great subject that needed a repeating line, and my dad loved it. Thanks again
