Thank you for sharing this post to help the newbies on FanStory. I started in 2008. I wish I had something like to help me when I began. Yes, this site does help us to become better authors. It also become almost like a family. You may never meet these people, but they are there for you. You're one of those people, to me.

Thank you, Barbara! What a nice thing to say. 2008? You must almost be one of the longest members here. I don't think I will be leaving anytime soon, not with all the lovely friends I've gained here. While I was in hospital I was overcome with how all of you were adding me to your prayers. I'll never forget that. A special thank you for that, my dear friend. Thank you so much for your sage advice, Sandra! I find that if I don't get much from a poem and I would struggle to provide positive feedback, I tend to move on without reviewing it. Just my personal preference. You're so right about treating everyone with respect - it makes such a positive difference.
