Tremendously creative. I had to read this one out loud a couple of times to get the full force of the personification--it's powerful. Great use of the 5-7-5 format, and you used the Halloween season to great advantage as well. Wonderful art work for the poem, too. Good luck in the contest!

I've noticed that most of the Halloween poems this year are horror Halloween poems, but this one is the most clever for it has captured an element of horror in its short 17 syllables. Good luck in the contest.

Cute and very original imagery! I only had issue with one word: "raw" which implies something more visceral, not dried up like leaves would be.

The leaves fear was raw, not the leaves themselves. Thanks for reading.

LOL! Very imaginative! Now that's some kind of fear! Haiku's are challenging, but you said it short and sweet and I loved it! Good luck in the contest!

I'm always impressed by poems that have personified elements. It adds vitality to the overall piece.
Halloween has its roots in ancient times, and because the ancients personified everything, their stories were rich and full of life (just read the ancient myths!).
So it's fitting that you've breathed life into leaves in your Halloween piece. Well done!

Oooh really nice. This wouldve been the first six I would've given for a 5-7-5. Leaves jump back. Wow that's a cool, unique thought. Very imaginative. Hope you win!

great photo to go along with this one! a fun Halloween 5-7-5 - and the concept of leaves jumping BACK on to their trees is delightfully Stephen King!

This 5-7-5 writing prompt entry is delightfully original and turns the typical perspective about leaves "upside down". LOL Very humorous. I'll find out who you are later! All the best in the contest! :0 GracieAnn

In just a few words a picture is painted. The artwork really jumps out of the picture to create a unique Halloween fright.
