"One Can Say" is a wonderful short writing in just four lines, and yet it delivers a whole big story. A very nice piece of work that is well presented and has a strong theme that I like it.

Wow! What a great philosophy. I assume the lack of respect and pride in and for our ancestors is one of the reasons why history repeats itself over and over. Well done deep water.

Stunning artwork. I must admit, I was happier before I knew about my ancestors and feel badly would my descendents remotely investigate my place on this planet.

The more I read this the better it seems. My initial thoughts were that the two were mutually exclusive, but they aren't in the sense that what we teach by example is most likely to continue with future generations. Of course, then many factors come into play like changes values or simply interest beyond the here and now which so occupies the young minds these days of information over-load. Great poem.

Well, that's depressing, Deepwater. I was kind of counting on some one of my descendants remembering me. But your poem does lay the dilemma out there. Not all one's ancestors are worthy of being remembered.

I don't know, my friend. No pride in the achievements of our ancestors is a pretty sweeping condemnation.
I'm not arguing that there isn't plenty of shame to go around, but there's reason to be proud, too.
Maybe it's just me, but I always trip over 'absolute' statements.
