Perfect pairing of photo and poem
good details recounting the couple's early days together - nice nostalgic feel and good detail
effective expression of sorrow as he learns in a letter that his wife has found another while he is away at war

Yeah, that's probably one of the best
letters a man can get... Is when he's
at war, feeling death in the air, and
all around. To know that somebody cares
is like magic. You did a good job.

This is so, so sad, so many have been in this position of remembering their lives with loved ones. and facing death. Why oh why do we still send our men and women out to war to be killed and do we gain anything by it, certainly not worth the deaths.

Well written
Mary

That was so very sad. I know such things happen, but my goodness, the men and women who receive such letters from the one person they love, can only bring them misery. The ones that send these letters, are callous and have no feelings at all. Really well written, and such a pleasure to read. (even thought it was really sad,) xsx Sandra

Being a veteran of the Marine Corps, I have seen the devastation such letters have wrought on my fellow comrades. It literally sucks the very will to live right out of their bodies. Bad enough to be fighting for God, your country and an uncertain cause, much less having to do so after receiving such a letter from your wife. It makes men who feel like they have very little to lose or live for, take risks and chances they normally wouldn't take.

Nicely done, Gary.~Dean

That is too sad. I know it happens, but it happens to men overseas as well. Everyone gets lonely I guess. Life is not simple that's for sure. The letter was heartrenching, The final lines were devastating. Well written, though too sad.

this is exquisite yet so full of sorrow. war takes no captives (yes it does, but it's not the point) everyone is there to live or die.
thank you for sharing!

Hi Gary,

This really hits home for a guy on the front lines, but finds out the love of his life is moving on. Sadly, this probably happens more times than not.

You've penned this very well - heartfelt.

Cheers & Blessings
