very interesting contemplation on what life and friendship is. . .

it is the walking away that is difficult and necessary if we are to grow and be waht we can.

very good work

Hello Poet,
I appreciated your thought here. You can save yourself a lot of pain in life, if you can learn to perceive witch of your friends are worth the time, and distance yourself from those who are just around to help you in its waste. I'm afraid that's a hard skill to master, and comes with practiced time - and even then may be tripped, because of a soft heart. Nice conception and presentation in this offering, well done. Best wishes, Bill

Very well put. I have two friends, and no matter what, will always be there for me and I for them. I have known them since fifth grade and no matter how many miles separate us or what comes up in our daily life we have each others back.

It's a good feeling.

You're right, compassion is indeed a dying art. Sadly it's also the one thing that is most needed.

Great observations here - Some real food for thought.

A great message. I enjoyed how you left the lines quite long. It really helped the reader understand this concept better and enjoy it more. Well done.

Hello Deepwater,
Marvelous theme and beautifully depicted in a soul awakening way!
Wording is simple and impressive with smooth flow and nice imagery.
The most striking lines are:
"We die with the understanding of wisdom needed to survive.....the in-between is the dying art of compassion.....between the parts of life we know as birth and death."
Superb!

We try to surround ourselves with people with integrity, flexibility and ethics, friends that make you laugh and focus on life, but if you fall will always hold out a hand to help you back up, - Speaking only for myself, without these people in my life I would certainly have crumbled long before now ...beautifully written :)Linda

Profound thoughts presented in an effective format. A prose poem worth reading and pondering. Poetry should make us either, feel, laugh, think, or cry. Thanks for sharing.

check your spelling did you mean we'll?

Your poem is very interesting, and it did have me thinking, which is good. I think you make a very good point, not to deny hurt and heart ache, but rather avoid it when we can and find friends who will help us get through it when we can't. We may be alone, but that doesn't mean we can't stand side by side with someone for awhile. We're all just passing through, so we might as well show a little empathy and compassion while we're here. Good work. :)

You know, you're offering big bucks here, so, obviously you have something important you really want to tell us. You do (tell us) but not poetically, not even with good prose. So you have miss-classified this, and failed sentence structure, and punctuation class. Kenny
