Wow! You just brought back a ton of memories that were buried in my memory box in my head. You wrote about my days at the Jersey shore. Whether a day trip or a weeks vacation in a musty smelling bungalow, as a kid it didn't matter. Sun, sea, sand, mom lathering me up with that white creamy lotion... Great times, great memories, great poem! Thanks! John

Hi Gary,If I dare but see through the eyes of a child, this is a beautifully nostalgic poem relating the sheer innocence of childhood and could apply to almost any child anywhere in the world,Great rhyming, and a lovely rhythm and flow.

Ice cream to end a day in the sun, especially in the Summertime to enjoy at a beach which seems so great a childhood to experience that...Can relate somewhat, as my mom's favorite treat to feed us....My sis & I were hauled in the car to the nearest ice-cream store, before we said our prayers & went to bed...So hot, it was, with out AC....Simple pleasures of that era....Great picture & wonderful poem......Thanks for digging some memories for, I think, a lot of us here....Very good poetry to almost end my day here...Though, eating ice cream, before drifting off to sleep, these days, add extra pounds, that I don't need..

The rhyme and rhythm of this poem is excellent. The images are well presented--gulls flying...hot winds blowing...games being played along the sand and mother wading along the seashore. But what is more than this is the choice for a an ice of the child under the heat of the sun. I tend to agree.

There's nothing happier and more interesting than a child's imagination. You've captured the idea of a child's summer fun very well in this poem. Making castles with father and going in water with mother... everything sounds like a perfect day at the beach. Good one!
