Oh my goodness, that picture goes so perfect with this poem! I love the poem too! I live in the country and haven't been to many big cities, but the picture and poem gives me the perfect vision in my mind of what it would be like on a rainy night! Great job!

Hi Sally,
I'm reminded of a song by Gordon Lightfoot... "Rainy Day People". Your poem seems to remind us that we shouldn't get depressed in bad weather. The sun is always shining someplace. Or, another way to look at it... you can be a sun (light) shining in the rain. And one of Lightfoot's lines goes:
"Take it or leave it, or try to believe it, if you've been down too long. Rainy day lovers don't hide love inside; they just pass it on."

Good Luck in the contest, my dear!
Hugs,

I thought that was lovely. We were all glad to see the rain here. We've had several days in a row of temperatures in the high 30's. Very unusual here. I thought I was going to melt. Rain was a welcome relief.

Sally,

I'm so happy to stop by to offer a humble 26th review for your unique four line poem entry.

Yes, we can change our point of view as we step into the light...anywhere we are.

Love that sax music you added as well.

Best wishes in the contest, dear.

Anna

The rain drops are falling and the city lights are shining brightly. I can see this happening where there's a street light pole, which comes on at dusk and if it's raining, the reflection will shine through the rain drops.

The title, look beyond, starts us off on an unexpected journey, and you delivered in spades. So great starting off with a rainy day, and then boom, big lights, big city.

This is a most inventive entry into the contest, Sally. Wishing you all the best with the Committee. :)

Your title is well chosen. The weather can easily get one down if there is too much of the one thing, but the need is to look beyond to find cheer or comfort elsewhere, and find a renewed perspective on life. Well written.

Hello Sal.

This poem reminds me of the song by the Carpenters way back in the 70s. it's called "Rainy Days and Mondays Always Get Me Down."

Good luck in the contest.

I actually don't mind rainy days - grew up in a city- Boston. So there were always lights. And I do love jazz and blues on rainy days - like today.Thoroughly enjoyed your presentation.

A beautifully written post, the rain can put a real "dampener" on life in general, but it need not put a hand on one's mood, one should always look to the sunshine within. Beautifully written Sally, good luck, blessings Roy

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Anna Sally, you prompted me, she thought I didn?t like her because of her stance on a certain issue, but that?s not the case at all, you?re very thoughtful dear girl,
