Oh, LisaMay! This poem made me smile and chuckle. I love rhyming poems. And the casual "Deal?" at the end is so informal and funny! I love the internal rhyme. This is such a tough poem structure, in my opinion, but you used it to effect very well.

Thanks for your kind words and terrific rating. Sometimes we have to make a deal with a child to get them to do things... to establish a habit. It might take a child a while to realise the power and comfort of prayer.

So funny that you wrote this, because yes, my son and I are revisiting morning and nighttime prayers, because he hasn't been doing them on his own. He says he feels better afterwards.

It's nice that he's found benefit from praying.

I agree with the creative words of your rhyming contest entry. It's a BIG deal when you learn the value of prayer as a young child. Best wishes in the contest.

I think it is a good habit for parents to encourage in their children.

this is such a lovely poem. The image is so beautiful, and the poem is wonderful. Anything to do with God can make a person melt to their knees. To pray solves many issues.

This entry for the 1-6-1 Contest writing prompt obeys the contest requirement with a full set of line-end rhymes. These are unforced, so flow is ensured.

Very well done, a great entry for this contest. Every time we come to God in prayer, we can be sure that He is listening to our prayer, that He understands and that the answer is on the way.

I agree. If we humble ourselves before God we come closer to Him.

You are welcome

A rare review of the one-six-one poem. It is not often that a meaningful message can be expressed in such a short poem, but you have managed to do it here.

I agree - not a lot can be said in such brevity, so that is the challenge. I'm pleased you saw merit here.

Simple and to the point.
It was not easy to put across but a deal indeed to pray.
It reminded me of childhood promises made to parents.
It was great to remember.
