This was an excellent and enjoyable interview. I recently met MS Nelms-Ludwig, and I found the experience mind expanding. I was initially surprised to find an African American with a name like hers. That got my immediate attention. I have read most of the poems in her portfolio and am very impressed. One of the first things we discussed was my using an larger font size and dispensing with distracting background colors. My conversations with her has gotten me off my backside and I am finally working on telling my life story.

Terry, nice job putting this material together for Sandra's interview. She most certainly lived a fascinating life and has achieved a lot in her life as teacher and in the service, etc... I know how hard the death of her daughter was and how much she meant to her. That indeed was sad and my heart aches for her.
However I don't agree on her clique theory and that the same ones win if they can promote there's to page one. I know for a fact that when I am in the voting booth, it's usually when I read everyone's entry. We have no clue and don't worry about who promoted what. We are there to pick our favorite and that is it.
For those who feel that people shouldn't promote to page one, should understand where their money comes when they review. It is why they are able to review and use the member pumps to promote their own works. Regardless, it was a great interview and great story Terry!

Debi, thank you reading and reviewing. I am going to let you and Sandra figure out the issue of promoting. I think you are both talented poets, and it sure looks like you both do well in contests.
When I enter a contest, I will often think, "Dang, I got the winner!" And then I will read some of the others and rethink, "Dang, there are at least two that are better than mine"...usually turns out to be 3 o 4. Terry.
