Sigh. (You really should consider taking this right on through May, my friend...there is so much to reflect upon and enjoy!)
More and more I find I am not praying to God to "grant me" wishes for a longer life.
Most dawns I find myself sitting quietly, in a sort of awe that He has seen fit to gift me yet another day.
What a gift it has become to pray by asking "What can I do for You, today, Lord?"
I think He was so patient, for it took me a long long time to get here!

This is a pretty good one, Jim. I'm a little unsure about one thing. Did the man die? It seems that God is talking to him and telling him that he has arrived at his destination.

This is an interesting take on the classic pastoral romantic theme. Here we see nature and its ongoing progression of life as almost a taunt to those of us who are passing away, growing old, unable to participate anymore in the activities of life. We see the old man looking on, with longing. Then there is a kind of resolution, an acceptance of the seasons of life in that voice of God that says 'You are a part of the great schematic, you have partaken of life, you have been a part of it.' estory

Oh, very beautiful thoughts, particularly the last two stanzas. It is our role to know God and enjoy Him forever. We can start with reposing and resting in the beauty He has created for our pleasure. Lovely poem.

HI JLR a lovely poem of reflection, and I think at times we all ask the questions of 'Why are we here' and I am sure generations before asked the same question. What is our destiny? Perhaps just be in the moment and enjoy all we have every day with loved ones and friends. it could be just this simple. I recently lost a friend last week, i saw him a few months ago and he is now gone. I wonder sometimes too what we are here for if to just to die out. Hmm

Chris, so sorry to read about your recent loss. But, part of the reason I believed we are here is to remember and hold a placed in our hearts for those that have departed as a line of Light for us to follow into eternal life.

What a great conclusion and we all think about our destiny. How comforting to hear that we have that " place to repose in God's sovereignty." Because God redeemed us all, we know we "have arrived."

Sometimes I think it will take a lifetime relating to Mary as she reclined at Jesus feet, on the other hand, we can relate very easily to Martha as she goes about the business of being busy, both have their role to play in our lives, great lesson my friend, blessings Roy
