I teared up. Absolutely a perfect thing. The picture was marvelous as well. I hardly ever give out a six. But I just can't find a thing wrong with it! I have read it three times, nope, it is still perfect.

Hi Karen, Many thanks for reading. If it moved you then I have done my job. The contest was for fiction. However, this did happen and Tiri became aggressive and had to be put down. Dad was quiet for a very long time. Blessings, Kay XX

There ought to be a category,Docudrama, part truth, part not true.

I think you are a newbie. I have been writing on FS for 13 yrs. If you look to the side panel when you write, you will find how to make it fiction, biography, etc. Need any help give me a shout. Kay.

Sad tale, but a great flash fiction (is it fiction? It was believable) entry. It's hard to say "I enjoyed it" since it deals with deaths of animals, but I'm thankful you were able to put joy into this story!

Hi Jim, Thanks for your kind review. Yes, it is! But the contest called for fiction. So, I had to write it as fiction. Tiri became a different dog, aggressive and we had to put her down. Joy was a beautiful pup. Regards, Kay.

What an excellent read, I can only imagine how hard it would have been for that little dog to be giving birth after such a big dog attacked her, very well written, gorgeous photo, best wishes for your contest****kahpot

Hello Kahpot, Thanks for reading, not a really happy story, it was written as fiction, but it did happen. Cheers, Kay xx

A sad story about this little fox terrier giving birth to several still born pups before one bringing Joy to both mum and her helper. Well told K and a very poignant read. Good luck in the contest.
cheers,

It isn't something you think about but rape is rape and it obviously affected poor Tiri.

This is both a happy story and such a sad one. I'm glad Joy survived, but sad to hear her mother was never the same after losing all the other puppies.
You pack a lot into your 100 word story. Not a word wasted and you share a depth of emotion I wouldn't think possible for so few words.
Best of luck in the contest.

Good luck wishes regarding the contest entry, Kay. This was so delightful in a deeper sense. All of the puppies were born dead, but the last one which whimpered a sob. She was special enough that he named her-'Joy'. This was so special. Bright Blessings n Hugs!!!

A touching story that embodied sadness tinged with hope. I'm glad he found Joy at the end. A lovely story that should do well in the contest. Well done!

Hello June, Many thanks for reading. Not easy writing a story in 100 words. Love, Kay.

This is a bittersweet flash story. You bring it to life as we watch a feeble old man who loves his dog try to her as she dilivers her babies. He is sad as each pup is delivered dead. Then happeness comes and the last one is alive. Joy is an appropriate name.

Well, Aussie, if this is not a tear-jerker, I don't know what is!
Beautiful picture - and this little pup is presumably the eponymous 'Joy!'
A traumatic event for the old man - having to bring out the still-born. Your description of his grief is very moving.
I only knew 'Blue Heelers' as an Aussie police soap (not bad for a pom!) but now I've mugged up on cattle dogs too! Powerful, presumably - and dad was no gentleman, apparently!
Aussie, to fit this lot into 100 words is quite miraculous.
Thanks for this pearl of a story.
Paul

Hello Paul, Many thanks for reading. Blue heelers are known as cattle dogs with bluish spots and they nip the heels of the cattle. The contest was for fiction. This is a true story without his name. Yes, the photo is a pup. Tiri was never the same after she lost the pups, she became aggressive. Oh, we won the cricket (sort of) Hee, Hee. K XX

Yea - sort of, and sort of not - you just keep those ashes warm for us!
A brilliant series, though. Loved it.
Best, Paul
