I never bother making new year's resolutions, to me I think they are a waste of time. I really enjoyed reading your piece. I thought your writing flowed really well. Good luck in the contest.

Great write and a great photo and those of us in Australia will all stay up to midnight to watch our Bridge and Harbour come alive when the fireworks come to life.

Five stars on this website often seem to be given plenty, but even to that degree, this piece was the perfect embodiment of what I felt was deserving of "five stars." Then, after a moment, I read over the piece once more (after reflecting back on my year) only for a joyful laugh to expel (is that the word?) from my body, thinking to myself, Oh, how deeply I relate to this sentiment, this piece, and I just think to myself, sometimes I really can use a relatable or personable piece, and this piece did exactly that for me. Hence, 6 stars, and thank you dearly for sharing.

So glad that you drafted this poem. I looked up where the southern hemisphere is located ... It stated Africa was one of the locations. No wonder you have it hot where you live.

I actually live in Australia. The southern hemisphere is basically the whole southern half of the world. Very big! :)

An excellent and very timely acrostic for the contest! It flows beautifully with perfect syntax which doesn't seem forced at all. And the message is very relatable. I'm just not sure what's going on with your 'c' on the keyboard. Because on lines 2,4,6 and 7 there appears to be an 'o' instead unless my eyes are really deceiving me (which they could well be). But a strong entry for the contest, well complemented by an eye-catching image. Well done and good luck! Happy New Year! Debbie

Thanks so much, Debbie. That Concert One font seems to be creating some issues for people. I should try a different one.
-
Are you able to check and see whether this one looks better at your end?
-
Oh yes, much clearer! What did you do?
-
I changed the font to Trebuchet MS. Thanks for checking! Concert One always looks fine on my laptop, but seems to cause difficulty for some of my reviewers. Note to self for next time! :)

Hi,
This poem is so true of most resolutions except the one I made a long time ago. That was to never make another New Year's resolution. And, that is one easy to keep.
Good luck in the contest.
Happy New Year.

Great use of the letters of Resolution. I can't manage to keep my New Year's Resolves either - so I completely understand.
Thank you for sharing!

This is a well-written acrostic for the NAME contest. After many decades, I finally made a resolution and I am hoping I will be able to keep it.
The only suggestion I can make is to utilize a better font. With the one being used, the c letters look blurred and the word turns out looking like they say Expeotations instead of Expectations, ohanged instead of changed, and oreate instead of create. Using a larger size font might solve this.

I have been to your country at New Year and watched the Sydney Harbour bridge alive with fireworks from a city centre apartment over looking the harbour, it was magical. You brought the celebrations to life here with your wonderful poem, I agree changes for the better are slow, but we are improving all the time, just not fast enough for some, Happy New Year! Love Dolly x

Thank you so much, Dolly! In my opinion, the best fireworks displays in the world are in Sydney Harbour. :)

I agree with you x

Winter can be a little too cold to venture out, and summer can render one somewhat listless with the heat, spring can be a little variable weather wise, that leaves autumn as the only good season to be active, well done, blessings Roy
