Most memories (good ones, at least) of my childhood came from visiting with my aunts, uncle, and grandparents.... I remember having tea, rye crisp with butter and lemon drops. And going fishing and catching the bait. I'm glad that you can recall so much of your childhood and it included all of your family. Great job!

I don't know why I remember it so well hut if I get some of it wrong there is no one still around to argue with me about it. LOL

Well, it's a good thing you never gave your grandmother a heart attack!

Do you still paint? I see that you list it as one of your passions on your profile page.

Thanks for sharing another story from your life.

Thank you Pam. I"ve painted a lot of the years but nothing lately. I did major in art in college and worked as a commercial artist so I guess I was serious at four.

You've about tickled me to death, and I can just about picture you being the center of attention. And of course, not liking to be on show. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Great story. And very nicely written.
You are gifted with fabulous recall. I envy you.
So, do you paint now? Or some other form of artistry (aside from very nice writing)?
Best wishes.

Thank you Wayne. I still paint occassionally but I did major in art in college and work as a commercial artist. I like oil and water color. I appreciate the review and comments.

This story, Career Decision at Age Four, shows a busy girl discovering the world a person at a time. My dad's folks were gone before I was born, but my mom's mom lived to meet my first child in the seventies. We never had much meaningful time together.

Excellent take of your childhood experiences. It is good to think back at times of good memories. Though many can not recall the moments of their youth, I can at age 3 or 4 remember the good things and people. Good one, Beth.

I loved your story and I love that you knew at that young age that you wanted to be an artist. You certainly were visually very gifted to be able to determine whether someone was a politician or a preacher. I'm also glad you didn't give your grandmother a heart attack! Yes, it's so important for kids to connect with their grandparents!

Thank you Helen. I likey recognized them by what they were wearing and whether they had nickle in their pocket rather then facial feature or mayabe by the kindness in the voice. I'm better at voices than facial; features. People I see and talk to in the swimming pool, I don't recognize when they get out and get dressed.

It is sad when children don't know their grandparents. I was blessed with two sets of wonderful grandparents. Thank you for sharing this with us. I couldn't find any way to improve this.
