I enjoyed the tale, although I sort of knew where it was going. Even though this is a short piece, it might work better with some prudent editing. Too much time is taken up on setting the scene. About a third of the piece is descriptive work about the fair, tent & medium. this could be culled somewhat to make it tighter.

Good story, Doug. I loved all the obvious readings the old medium gave your main character. He wasn't to be fooled by such nonsense and left without paying.
But the one specific she seemed to have uttered turns out to be true, and now has him in fear of her prediction. A well plotted and paced story.

Hey, every now and then one seems to somehow "know" things. I get the ten-year dire (or should I say "die-er") (I'm not good at math, but 2014 plus ten years would bring it to --YIKES --tomorrow!)
Here's what I think. I think you're going to be just fine. I believe you'll read this review and chuckle and be happy you got a "reading" for free.
(I also think you should keep tabs on your cholesterol because I'm no fortune-teller, but I am a nurse!)

I know how to read Tarot cards and Viking Runes. I had a gypsy reading when I was younger. She told me that I would have a lot of relationships with men but none of the relationships would last long. She was right.
