Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I enjoyed reading. I would say this King's daughter had the final say. I enjoyed reading and good luck with the contest.

This seventy-five-word story, The Peasant Bethany, has the proper word count and brings the cast-out Bethany back to the throne with an "in your face" acceptance of her earned crown.

Girl Power! My father never thought I was good enough because I wasn't a boy....His son let him down but I was there till the end. Don't ever count us out.

I think you adhered to the contest rules brilliantly. It is fiction, and it is a story told in 75 words. There was no mention anywhere that it had to be prose.

So definitely a six star work. Wishing you great luck with the contest committee. :)

Hey, Gloria, hello. Thank you so much for the fantastic review and big sixer. I really did it this way for more of a challenge to myself, to use exactly 75 words and still have it in meter while trying to say what I needed. Lol. I dearly appreciate the kind review and rating, G. Have yourself a great rest of your weekend and thank you again.

This is a well-crafted narrative poem with strong imagery and a compelling theme. The imagery is vivid, particularly in the lines "a peasant raised in dirt" and "her men drew swords and charged the kingdom's throne." It does tell a complete story. Nicely done. - Terry

This is very well written and I enjoyed very much listening to it. It is hard to tell a complete story and 75 words, but you have done a beautiful job with this. May you have a blessed weekend. Patricia.

Thank you for the kind review, Patricia. The hardest part was getting exactly 75 words to fit into meter and still tell the story. I really appreciate the gracious stars and stop in, Patricia. I'm glad you liked this little tale.

A very important concept. I'm glad you're addressing this issue. This becomes a good role model for women. Especially after the way her father treated her and regarded her. Well done.

A fine poem, loved the rhymes and flow and I enjoyed the story, good luck with the contest. A clever and skilful post. Greed and power is more highly regarded than family at times, love Dolly x

Very intersting twist to the normal conventions for a flash-fiction - but why not? You told an imaginative story with rhyme to boot. I enjoyed the twist, that although being a girl and hence a disappointment she took the crown and moved from peasant to royalty. Obviously a very strong young woman. Best wishes for the contest.

Joan,
This is such an exquisite poem; I love all things medieval and Renaissance and you've created an ambience of old with 75 words!
Best wishes,
Cindy
